**Job Description Summary

Performance Engineering is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager with strong technical and people leadership skills to drive technical excellence, quality execution, and strategic vision across NPI, ITR, and fleet management including global thermal performance risk management responsibilities. In this role, the selected candidate will lead a team that provides support to global thermal performance deliverables, performance guarantees risk management, and responsible to align and drive the implementation of the global Performance Engineering objectives critical to customer success. This position blends engineering and commercial aspects to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and drive value through innovation and delivery of products and services for our customers while fueling talent development. The role is guided by operating policy and works with cross functional teams. High levels of evaluative judgment and operational acumen are required to achieve outcomes.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Set clear goals and expectations for the team and ensure effective communication within the Performance Engineering functions to drive One Team mindset and accountability.
  • Align the global Performance Engineering and HDPE/Services/Fleet Management ITR strategies, priorities, and lean initiatives and drive implementation in global engineering center.
  • Support functions of sales, ITR, and Fleet Management on all performance related items in global engineering center.
  • Support the development of performance technical methods and training programs designed to improve the quality and productivity of the organization.
  • Support the development and drive the implementation of the performance engineering QMS and Operating Guidelines in the global engineering center.
  • Consolidate and track project performance risk data (exposure, action items/owners/status, dates) and provide monthly reports as inputs for KPI tracking, project reserves, and associated operating reviews.
  • Partner with Gas Power Engineering ITR teams inclusive of Heavy Duty Plant Engineering, Services Engineering, and Aero Engineering in developing technical solutions and applied lessons learned in equipment thermal performance results and updated performance risk models for new unit portfolios as well as Services Aftermarket & Fleet Management.
  • Collaborate with associated teams for the continuous development, improvement, and implementation of risk estimation methods and risk management standard work.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline from accredited university
  • Minimum 10 years proven leadership experience in engineering, power generation design/services, or thermal sciences / engineering.
  • Proven experience as an engineering leader with a track record of successfully managing and scaling engineering teams. Minimum 5+ years of team management experience
  • Strong thermal performance experience of gas turbine or combined cycle technologies.
  • Strong leadership behaviors and ability to interface effectively with all levels of a global organization and external customers.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate team.

Desired Characteristics

  • MS or Ph.D. engineering degree in Mechanical/Energy Engineering/Technology
  • Excellent attention to details including strong troubleshooting skills
  • Consistently demonstrates design creativity and problem-solving capabilities
  • Displays strong interpersonal, influencing, collaborative, mentoring and leadership skills
  • Demonstrates ability to lead programs / projects. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Should be a change agent. Early creator or adaptor of technology by following industry trends
  • Anticipates internal and external customer needs and ensures that they are met. Measures processes and performance through the customer's eye.
  • To comply with US immigration and other legal requirements, it is necessary to specify the minimum number of years' experience required for any role based within the USA. For roles outside of the USA, to ensure compliance with applicable legislation, the JDs should focus on the substantive level of experience required for the role and a minimum number of years should NOT be used.
