THIS IS A HYBRID POSITION, 2 DAYS A WEEK IN LEHI, UT. NO REMOTE OPTION.

Responsible for the development and maintenance of automated tests for software used by insurance market professionals as guided and supervised by more senior automation engineers and management.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Supports execution of test plans primarily automated tests and occasionally manual tests.
  • Develops a working understanding of the test automation framework(s) being used.
  • Assists with creating/maintaining the automation test suite and reporting on its status.
  • Expands the capabilities of the automation systems to cover time consuming manual test cases.
  • Provides estimation of work to senior QA automation engineers and management and highlights any difficulty in meeting these targets.
  • Diagnoses, logs and tracks defects towards their resolution closely within the QA Team.
  • Maintain manual testing responsibilities while transitioning over to Automation tasks as relevant.
  • Assists in ensuring high Quality is maintained throughout the software development lifecycles, and results in high Quality products released to customers.
  • Completes all responsibilities as outlined on annual Performance Plan.
  • Completes all special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Basic to mid-level experience with object-oriented programming languages.
  • Good understanding of testing methodologies
  • Good understanding of Quality Assurance techniques and best practices
  • Able to operate in a team environment, as well as independently when necessary.
  • Reasonable understanding of Web APIs and how to interact with them.
  • Able to contribute to testing strategies and design and assisting with selecting appropriate methodologies based on change sets and acceptance criteria.
  • Able to debug software applications using stack traces, output logs, and debugging tools.
  • Understanding of software design principles and patterns
  • Capable of providing feedback on software best practices to teammates.
  • Reasonable understanding of continuous integration and build-pipelines.
  • Experience with Jira or similar issue tracking tools.
  • Reasonable knowledge of software development life cycles

Competencies (Behaviors and Technical):

  • Clear communication skills to work with developers, analysts, and engineers.
  • Attention to detail and ability to focus.
  • Self-sufficient in at least one large area of the automation system, with a high-level understanding of other components.
  • Ability to manage own time to meet work estimates.
  • Must be able to work in the office 2 days per week.
