The Lending team is responsible for building safe, secure and versatile loan products for all user segments. We own a range of platform primitive components such as, but not limited to, Loan Management System, Repayments Engine and Product Flow Orchestator to name a few. We take pride in building distributed systems that have a real impact on the lives of millions of users in our endeavour to out-serve the underserved population. Theories like Idempotency, CAP theorem, Distributed Consensus are more than just theoretical terms for us and have real bearings on the systems we build.

Get to Know the Role

We are looking for a skilled Backend Engineer to join our GFIN Team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality services that power the end-to-end user journeys across various products within the lending ecosystem of Grab. These services are critical, serving customers in eight countries. You will collaborate closely with the product, business, and program management teams to ensure timely delivery of your work.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform:

• Code Delivery and Service Reliability: Deliver and maintain high-quality, bug-free code and ensure the reliability and performance of services.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration and System Improvement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance the tech stack and continuously improve existing systems.
• Backend Development Best Practices: Implement best practices in backend development, focusing on scalability, efficiency, and security.
• Infrastructure Support and On-Call Rotation: Support the SRE and DevOps teams in setting up infrastructure and participate in the team on-call rotation.
• Continuous Learning and Improvement: Demonstrate accountability, commitment to high-quality deliverables, and a strong desire to continuously learn and improve.

Requirements

What Essential Skills You Need:

• Educational Background and CS Fundamentals: Bachelor in Computer Science or equivalent. Good Computer Science fundamentals in algorithms and data structures.
• Product Shipping Experience: Experience shipping products (like web applications or backend services, etc.) to production.
• Language Proficiency: Proficient with at least one language commonly used for backend services development (Go, C++, C, C#, Java, Python etc.), but willing to work on Golang. Proficiency in Golang will be a strong advantage.
• Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills in English, and strong willingness to communicate and coordinate with others from different culture and language backgrounds.
• Self-Motivation and Teamwork: Self-motivated, fast learner, and great team player. Willing to learn new technologies.
