What is the opportunity?

The Senior Data Governance Analyst ensures the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of shared data assets by conducting effective risk and control assessment of critical business and/or report processes surrounding data, documenting, and recommending key controls consistent with Internal Controls Management Policy (ICMP). The Senior Data Governance Analyst will optimize data risk assessment (DRA), risk and control self-assessment, (RCA), data lineage, and continuous improvement and change initiatives to simplify and standardize documentation of data risk and controls.

What will you do?

  • Support data management initiatives – data risk and controls ensuring the accuracy and completeness of shared data assets and reporting data by conducting effective risk and control assessments and documenting key controls consistent with the Internal Controls Management Standard for the U.S. Region
  • Review Critical Data Element (CDE) Memos, data lineage and control information at the data element and system level for critical reports, key business processes and data domain CDEs
  • Maintain and enhance the data controls framework for Finance, Risk and other data domains, including criteria for determining key controls, developing standardized controls that can be applied to mitigate common risks, and documenting a minimum set of complementary controls that ensure comprehensive data risk coverage and high degrees of data integrity
  • Review existing data risk and controls, performing root cause analysis to ensure coverage and determine where control gaps or redundant controls exist, identifying issues requiring remediation and/or opportunities for improvement
  • Monitor the output of key controls, exception reporting, investigations, issues management and remediation to determine whether data lineage, data risk and controls assessments, and/or key control recommendations should be revised or updated
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with data domain stewards, critical business process owners and business line stakeholders, across RBC Bank who are accountable for or beneficiaries of effective key controls

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 4-6 years of experience in Data Management and Governance Practices and Processes or relevant experience in financial services such as credit risk data, data quality principles, data control design, and business analysis
  • Experience utilizing SQL for data analysis and management

Nice-to-have

  • Data Certifications: ITIL, CDMP, or similar
  • Experience in Collibra or Tableau
