About the Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Software Engineering with a strong background in Java, React, and Kafka technologies. This role involves leading and mentoring technical teams to achieve product development goals aligned with our business objectives. The ideal candidate will foster a collaborative and innovative environment that promotes team retention and job satisfaction. The Senior Director will also play a key role in the overall management of the engineering team, ensuring clear communication and alignment with stakeholders.

Your day-to-day at Sagent:

• Oversee and expand multiple teams of software engineers focused on product development.
• Provide mentorship and guidance for the professional and technical growth of team members.
• Collaborate with product owners to define application capabilities and testing scenarios.
• Drive continuous improvement in software engineering practices.
• Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions using a full stack of development tools and technologies.
• Ensure the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions.
• Stay current with tech trends, experiment with new technologies, and participate in technology communities.
• Foster a culture of innovation, inclusion, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity.
• Enhance the velocity and efficiency of your teams and others.

We would love to hear from you if you have:

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or a related field with 8+ years of relevant experience, OR 10+ years of relevant experience. Experience in building large scale enterprise distributed event driven applications
• Experience in building micro front ends
• Experience in designing and integrating RESTful and Streaming APIs and event driven messaging frameworks
• Have deep knowledge of enterprise and integration design patterns especially in streaming integration with User interfaces
• Good understanding of React, Java, Kafka, Databases (Postgres and Snowflake), API Gateways
• Understanding of business process management engines and business rules engines
• Knowledge of scaling and performance tuning of applications
• Experience in setting up observability and logging tools/frameworks
• Excellent debugging and optimization skills
• Experience in unit/integration testing
