Job Overview:

As a Mechanical Compliance Engineer at ABM, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and reliability of mechanical installations within our client's vast manufacturing facility. Your work will contribute to the safety and security of the facility, helping to protect both employees and assets in the event of an emergency. As a Mechanical Compliance Engineer, you will report to the Compliance Manager. You must have good written and oral communication skills and have a high level of technical knowledge across the mechanical industry.

Key Responsibilities:

 To ensure statutory compliance to all relevant British and European Standards, regulations, legislation, Codes of Practice, etc., as well as client standards and specifications, which surround mechanical safety.

 Co-ordinate and control those activities associated with the mechanical systems to ensure production facilities for designated sites are maintained to their optimum availability and reliability within the current Health & Safety, Environmental and statutory legislation, thus enabling the company to utilise the production facilities to their full potential.

 To develop, implement and maintain adequate maintenance schedules and to monitor the work of employees and sub-contractors that carry out these maintenance activities to ensure that output, quality, costs, and customer service satisfaction targets & standards are achieved.

 Oversee and audit mechanical work within commercial and industrial buildings, including small project works, upgrades, minor works, repairs, and fault finding, always ensuring compliance with the appropriate legislation and that the appropriate materials are used.

 To liaise with other staff and sub-contractors as necessary to ensure the timely completion of works within agreed operational targets.

 Assist with larger multi-disciplinary projects from concept to completion, involving site surveys, meeting with contractors and client, requesting work to be quoted, reviewing and auditing completed work.

 Facilitate client insurance inspections and ensure the correct procedures are adhered to.

 Supervise all required nominated person PPMs, compile associated reports, and generate action plans to close out any remedial works.

 Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures to ensure client compliance with relevant statutory regulations.

 Participate in reviewing technical projects / modification documents / O&M Manuals and raise concerns as appropriate.

 Review and update relevant sections within the client risk register.

 Participate in the programme for updating client site service drawings.

 Review and update mechanical sections within the client building condition reports.

 Must observe and comply with ABM and client’s health and safety policies and procedures.

 To be able to produce reports on performance and discuss with the client in monthly team meetings.

 Establish opportunities for energy savings and help to assist in requests.

 Develop and maintain asset lists and maintenance records on the clients CAFM system.

 Willingness to attend training programmes as requested.

 Updates job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging compliance engineering practices and standards; participating in educational opportunities and professional organisations; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks.

 Identifying hazards or improvements on-site and reporting to the facilities helpdesk.

 Using knowledge to identify a problem or an opportunity for improvement.

 Evaluating potential methods of carrying out an engineering task and selecting the most appropriate solution.

 Identifying improvements in a technique, procedure, process, or method.

 Analysing performance or test data or comparing performance information with published material.

 Investigating a problem to identify the underlying cause.

 Identifying a solution to a problem or an improvement opportunity.

 Take a results-orientated approach to the role, ensure results are analysed/trended and understood; and those remedial actions are delivered.

 Support any customer initiatives which could lead to longer term benefits to both the customer and ABM.

 Provide mechanical shift operation support.

 Any other ad-hoc duties as reasonably requested by a member of the Management Team.

Experience & Skills:

 Level 4 qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.

 NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.

 Experienced and skilled with mechanical steam installations.

 Proficient in the use of CAFM Systems.

 Understands the principles of engineering compliance and knowledge of HASAW, PSSR, LOLER, PUWER and CoSHH.

 In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, regulations, and safety standards.

 Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

 Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow safety protocols.

 Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.

 Ability to work effectively within a team and collaborate with other departments.

 Strong attention to detail to identify and document mechanical faults accurately.
 Clean UK Driving Licence.
