Amentum is currently seeking a qualified candidate to serve as Cybersecurity Engineer to support key programs at NSWC Crane and throughout the United States.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • On-site response to computer security breaches to re-establish protections and make required reports.
  • Plan, implement, upgrade, and/or monitor cybersecurity measures to improve cyber defense and maintain a cyber-resilient network.
  • Travel extensively responding to threats, performing triage, and determining next action items for the response to cyber threats.
  • Conduct a range of cyber risk analyses and security assessment methods within the networking environment or enclave to identifies where those systems/networks deviate from acceptable configurations, enclave policy, or local policy.
  • Gathers and analyzes all data that supports cyber intelligence/counterintelligence activity.
  • Assess cybersecurity vulnerabilities for risks and propose and implement remediation actions or risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure that cyber security requirements are properly defined, decomposed, allocated, implemented, and assessed to produce a cyber-resilient security design solution .
  • Ensure appropriate security controls are in place that will safeguard digital files and electronic infrastructure.
  • Prepare, implement, and ensure compliance with cybersecurity policy, to include Assessment and Authorization requirements.
  • Capture information on customer systems and operations, focusing on commercial hardware that is in use and utilize captured information to assess the risk posture for the customer.
  • Identify and recommend high priority assessments or other efforts that should be conducted.
  • Recommend Courses of Action (COAs) to mitigate cyber risks.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering, or Mathematics with a concentration in computer science or equivalent
  • 10 years of professional experience with cybersecurity engineering
  • CompTIA Security+
  • Information Assurance System Architect and Engineer (IASAE) Level 1
  • Demonstrated skills in penetration testing, including the ability to identify and exploit vulnerabilities in systems and applications
  • Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP), system configurations, and system administration is crucial for identifying vulnerabilities and managing systems effectively
  • Skilled in responding to security incidents, conducting forensic analysis, and understanding the lifecycle of cyber threats
  • Ability to analyze threat data and understand the tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) used by adversaries
  • Proficiency in languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash can help automate tasks and analyze data, and to automate tasks and enhance testing efficiency
  • Familiarity with legal standards and ethical considerations in digital forensics, including chain of custody and evidence handling
  • Proficiency in recovering and analyzing data from various digital devices, including computers, mobile devices, and cloud storage
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a minimum of a Secret security clearance (Interim Secret clearance required to start)

Travel Required:

  • Possible 25-50% to NSWC Crane and/or Washington DC, Navy Yard
  • Possible travel to various CONUS and OCONUS locations as necessary

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Any of the following certifications would be a plus to have:
    • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
    • Certified Red Team Professional (CRTP)
    • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
    • Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) certification
    • Certified Computer Examiner (CCE)
    • EnCase Certified Examiner (EnCE)
    • GIAC Network Forensic Analyst (GNFA)
    • Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP)
    • Certified Forensic Computer Examiner (CFCE)
    • Certified Cyber Forensics Professional (CCFP)
