Senior Database Developer

OVERVIEW
As a Senior Database developer looking for an experienced database developer to join our team. If you have advanced computer and technical skills, along with organizational and analytical skills, our company might be the perfect place for you. Database developers design databases to organize and save data while also keeping it safe and secure. They run tests to identify areas of improvement, provide database access to authorized users, monitor the performance of a database, merge old databases with new ones, as well as troubleshoot and fix usage issues and malfunctions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Requirement Analysis: Collaborating with stakeholders to understand business needs and translating them into technical requirements.
• Architectural Design: Creating high-level and low-level architectural designs for applications, ensuring they align with business goals and long-term strategies.
• Scalability and Performance: Ensuring the application architecture is scalable, efficient, and capable of handling increased workloads without compromising performance.
• Security: Implementing security measures and best practices to safeguard sensitive data and protect the application from potential threats
• Code Review and Guidance: Reviewing code implementations to ensure they adhere to the architectural guidelines and provide guidance (including reference implementations) to development teams when needed.
• Performance Optimization: Identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, conducting load testing, and optimizing the application's overall performance.
• Documentation: Creating comprehensive technical documentation, including architectural diagrams, design patterns, and guidelines for development teams
• Continuous Improvement: Staying updated with the latest industry trends, best practices, and technologies to continuously improve the application architecture.
• Risk Management: Identifying potential risks and providing mitigation strategies related to the application architecture.
• Team Collaboration: Working closely as part of cross-functional teams, including developers, testers, and product owners/managers, to ensure successful delivery.
• Mentoring and Training: Providing guidance, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to junior team members to enhance their skills and expertise.

Education and Experience
• Around 8+ years of total experience in information technology.
• 6+ years of SQL and PL/SQL Development experience
• Master’s or bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related field of study
• Extensive SQL and PL/SQL programming experience including packages, stored procedures, functions, triggers, indexes, and exception handling
• Extensive experience in trouble shooting, Query Optimization and performance tuning use of explain plans
• Experience supporting a multi-database environment
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as ((Git / Mercurial / SVN}

Technical Skills
• Expert knowledge on RDBMS including MS SQL, SQL Server, Oracle and No-SQL databases
• Expert knowledge on PL/SQL, Data Modelling
• Create database objects like tables, views, sequences, synonyms, indexes using tools like SQL*Plus, SQL Developer, Toad, MS SSMS
• Experience writing complex SQL queries and PL/SQL procedures to extract data from various source tables
• Experience in using the features Ref-Cursors, PL/SQL Tables, Materialized Views, Dynamic SQL, and Oracle RAC
• Knowledge of recovery tactics, database security, best practices, and software development process
• Strong working knowledge of Loading Data using SQL* Loader and PL/SQL using different file-format
• Can write scheduler jobs and Troubleshoot issue if any failures.
• Exposure and understanding of existing cloud technologies (MS Azure or AWS) (Nice-to have)
• Understanding of design patterns (including APIs); data architecture and patterns

Non-Technical Skills
• Experience driving technology evaluations across a wide range of vendors using a formal evaluation process.
• Systems thinking, understanding of relationships between various systems.
• Through understanding of architecture processes, project lifecycle methodology
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders on following technology strategy and solution design for key initiatives to align with standards and architecture guiding principles.
• Understanding and experience of various SDLC model Agile/Scrum, SAFe Agile etc.
