Arctic Wolf, with its unicorn valuation, is the leader in security operations in an exciting and fast-growing industry—cybersecurity. We have won countless awards for our excellence in security operations and remain dedicated to providing an industry-leading customer and employee experience.

Our mission is simple: End Cyber Risk. We’re looking for a Lead FinOps Developer to be a part of making this happen.

About the Role

Our team is tackling some of the toughest challenges in FinOps, working with vast amounts of data to drive decision-making and optimize cloud expenditures. We're seeking a Python-savvy, data-oriented, software engineer who can skillfully extract and integrate data from multiple sources, structure it effectively, and develop DBT models. Your role will also involve orchestrating these processes through Airflow and managing the data into OLAP databases like Redshift or Clickhouse. If you're ready to leverage your expertise in a dynamic environment and make a significant impact, we'd love to have you join us.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Design, build, and manage a scalable FinOps analytics platform on AWS to support Data Scientists, Developers, Analysts, and Managers in understanding cloud cost-related metrics of all products.
  • Building data pipelines from disparate sources with a mix of Python and SQL
  • A robust software engineering toolbelt and can work with new software regularly
  • Improving how we deploy, monitor inputs/outputs, and ensure accuracy as data traverses our complex pipeline
  • Understand basic FinOps practices -- Cost Visibility, Budgeting and Forecasting, Resource Optimization, Chargeback and Showback, Governance and Control, Continuous Improvement
  • Collaborating with Finance and Engineering—including Feature Development, Security, Engineering Platform, Research Labs, and AI teams—to manage and reduce operating costs
  • Ability to effectively communicate and work with leadership from multiple departments

We value a culture of sharing, so every team has the opportunity to share their work with the entire department during our monthly R&D Demos. Once a year we hold a department-wide Hackathon, teaming up across all R&D teams over four days to collaborate and build cool ideas outside the normal project scope. While innovation is the focus, some of these ideas do make it into our products.

About You

You’re an experienced Developer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges with little to no guidance. You care about writing quality code that is maintainable. You enjoy managing large scale data transformations and pipelines efficiently. Working collaboratively in cross-functional teams is your thing. Colleagues look to you for guidance on software development best practices.

You should have extensive work experience in the following areas:

  • Extensive experience with SQL and Python
  • Significant experience with AWS services like EC2, ECS, Redshift, Athena, S3, Lambda, IAM, Cost Explorer, Managed Airflow, Quicksight, and Redshift
  • Extensive experience working with data science Python packages like Pandas, JupyterLab, Kafka, Prefect/Luigi, Celery
  • Experience working in the FinOps space
  • Experience with data models and pipelines with data in various formats like Parquet
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation) in AWS
  • Experience with Kubernetes, DBT, Metabase, and Superset
  • Experience building out a ETL pipelines
  • Experience with Machine Learning, AI, and Neural Networks

In addition, you have proven software engineering experience from previous projects, regardless of title held. You have the ability to perform programming tasks and large engineering projects with independence and expertise. You will be responsible for guiding and mentoring other staff members and will regularly lead technical projects. You have a high level of mastery over software development best practices and building reusable design patterns.

Previous security experience is preferred but not required. We provide all the cybersecurity training you need during onboarding and on-the-job training.
