General Summary

Under direct supervision, assists experienced Imaging Services Engineers with installations, service and repair of imaging equipment in assigned geography. May work alone at times; however, usually works under close supervision of other Imaging Services Engineers and/or management. Performs, usually with assistance, assigned maintenance, installation, repairs, adjustments, calibrations, and safety testing. Adheres to instructions and corporate policies, and demonstrates professionalism with integrity in all interactions with customers and staff.

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. These are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified.

  1. People
    1. Works with experienced Imaging Services Engineers in the installation, maintenance, and repair of imaging equipment.
    2. Works closely with management and technical staff.
    3. Seeks support of difficult issues/decisions to higher level authority for resolution/advice.
  2. Service
    1. Services imaging equipment in assigned geography, to include up to 3 of the following equipment modalities: ultrasounds, contrast injectors, mobile radiographic/fluoroscopic units (c-arms), portable x-rays, fixed rad or R&F rooms, mammography, bone densitometry, dental x-rays units. Assists other Imaging Services Engineers with planned maintenance, installations, repairs, adjustments, calibrations and safety testing of imaging equipment.
    2. Performs basic administrative tasks associated with the position.
  3. Operational Quality
    1. Makes decisions based on clear instructions and operational rules and procedures.
    2. Shows initiative, follows established procedures, and works in a safe manner.
    3. Completes assigned work in a timely manner.
    4. Prioritizes work load effectively with support from higher level authority.
    5. Adheres to performance metrics of PM completion, call closure, parts returns, work order completion time and others as assigned.
  4. Growth and Financial
    1. Maintains timely, accurate and thorough documentation required by management, as outlined in current policies and procedures.
    2. Demonstrates initiative and concern for planning, time utilization and cost containment.
  5. Travel
    1. Requires up to 80% travel

Requirements

Education and Experience

  1. Associate’s degree in electronic technology, engineering, or related field required.

  2. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment in a clinical setting required; 1-3 years of working with Imaging modalities is preferred.

  3. AAMI CBET / CRES or ACCE CCE certifications are preferred.

  4. Must have working knowledge of the following pieces of equipment: General Office Equipment, VOM Meters, Radiation Meters, Hand Tools, Oscilloscopes, Safety Analyzers, Imaging Phantoms, Power Tools, HV Probes, HV Bleeders, and Test Fixtures.

  5. Basic knowledge of radiation physics, digital technology and mechanics.

  6. General knowledge of networked equipment.

  7. Basic knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to imaging equipment, radiation safety and protection practices.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Highly effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to communicate effectively with all levels hospital staff, patients, visitors, and vendors
  2. Knowledge of applicable trade areas and ability to understand and communicate technical terminology applicable to healthcare technology management.
  3. Computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office programs.
  4. High level of maturity, self-development, and integrity.
  5. Ability to combine pieces of troubleshooting information to form general rules or conclusions.
