Controls Engineer

We are seeking a full-time Electrical Controls Engineer to design, develop, and implement all aspects of electrical control systems for equipment and machinery in the water treatment industry. The role focuses on machine automation, specification review, scope analysis, and project quoting.

Responsibilities

• Design and review industrial control systems, including drafting specifications for production, sales, and field support.
• Prepare project scopes of work, preliminary design concepts, and cost estimates for small projects.
• Analyze project requirements and perform technical calculations to support designs, including electrical and communication needs, programming, and motor controls.
• Develop electrical and software designs for customized automation and safety systems in water treatment.
• Create and review documentation for system, software, and configuration processes.
• Interpret client requirements and address design parameters and engineering problems, ensuring accurate, budget-friendly solutions.
• Support the sales team in pre-sales technical concepts, quoting, and budgeting activities.
• Assist the Service Department with machine fault resolution and controls-related issues, including occasional travel for installations and breakdown support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience.
• Proficient in reading and creating technical drawings, with AutoCAD experience.
• Strong working knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCs (RS Logix 5000, 500); UniLogic is a plus.
• Experience in HMI/OIT development with Rockwell and/or Unistream.
• Solid understanding of control and electrical system design and its application in automated industrial designs, including power, sensor, and communication systems.
