Job Description

We are looking for a tech-savvy/data-focused individual to join our Competitive Research & Analysis team. We are industry analysts, covering asset management trends, financial markets, and competitors across the US Retail, Cross-Border Retail, and Global Institutional channels. Part of the Global Business Development Organization within the Client Group, this team performs industry analysis to support business development and strategic planning. You will collaborate with various departments, including Corporate Strategy, Product Development, Marketing, RFP, Client Service, and Investor Relations. Your work will impact product innovation, commercial decisions and inform firm-wide competitive research.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Spearheading the creation of competitive analyses at the firm, asset class, category and product level across three major channels (US Retail, Offshore Retail, and Global Institutional).

  • Constructing market sizing and/or market entry analyses in collaboration with senior management and business leaders.

  • Expanding, updating and maintaining the team’s suite of industry reports/dashboards.

  • Driving reports/dashboard automation efforts with Microsoft Automation, Microsoft VBA, and/or Robotic Processing Automation tools.

  • Leveraging third-party industry databases to conduct industry trends research that informs senior management on AB’s competitive standing.

  • Transitioning the team towards an AI integrated reporting platform.

  • Following financial markets to stay abreast of catalysts driving industry net flow trends.

Job Qualifications & Key Attributes

The ideal candidate should have:

  • BS/BA - concentration in Data Science, Technology, Finance, Business. Other concentrations are welcomed.

  • 2-5 years’ experience in the asset or wealth management industry.

  • Demonstrate interest in AI tool used in data analytics and data science.

  • Demonstrate perseverance with using large datasets to draw actionable insights.

  • Demonstrate strong interest in the investment management industry or financial markets.

  • Demonstrate the ability to use technology to increase productivity and efficiency.

  • Capability to work well with others and establish robust internal connections across different levels and departments.

  • Highly motivated self-starter with strong work ethics.

  • Capable of dealing with changing priorities in a dynamic and fast paced environment.

  • Detail oriented with ability to work independently and maintain high standards for data integrity.

Required Skills

  • Experience with Business Intelligence Tools (PowerBI, MicroStrategy, Tableau etc) is required.

  • Proficiency in SQL is required for manipulating, cleaning, and transposing large datasets.

  • Experience implementing AI tools in data analytics is a plus.

  • Database architecting experience is a plus.

  • Proficiency with various Microsoft Excel formulas is required, experience with VBA is a plus.

  • Working knowledge of industry databases (Morningstar, Broadridge, eVestment etc) is preferred but not required.

  • Proven technical problem-solving skills around common productivity applications (Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
