Position Summary

This position works closely with operating staff and leadership, maintenance, and engineering, providing technical support for processes and equipment and providing documentation used for training. Expertise in RFID technology or industrial paint systems is preferred.

Organizational Relationship

This position reports directly to the Manager, Engineering and also works closely with the operations leaders to provide effective support to production.

Accountabilities

Operations Support:

  • Interacts daily with operations to assist with process troubleshooting and to provide technical guidance
  • Attends daily gemba walks and Daily Management meetings to maintain understanding of current performance
  • Obtains, assesses and analyzes technical information, production KPIs, defects and warranty information
  • Develops Standard Work packages including standard operating sheets, operator maintenance and quality control documentation

Operations Strategy:

  • Reviews, plans and designs manufacturing processes through Kaizens, 3P events or other means
  • Develops practical capacity plans, labour calculations, process change cost estimates/savings and specifications

Project Support:

  • Provides support to other engineers, designers, quality or CI personnel, cost accountants, production associates and outside suppliers
  • Coordinates small scope projects and participates in strategic projects including new machine spec and commissioning

Continuous Improvement:

  • Learn, support and use the MasterBrand Way tools for Daily Management, Standard Work and Problem Solving
  • Provide input into the LPA (quality audit) system and perform regular audits to ensure procedures are maintained

  • Requires independent judgment and initiative and an ability to relate to all levels of employees & leaders
  • Works in accordance with well-established engineering principles, methodologies and best practices
  • Ensures compliance with national & provincial codes and regulations and compliance with company policies and standards
  • An innate drive to ensure safe work and adheres to all company Health & Safety policies as indicated in the Associate Handbook and Standards of Business Conduct Handbook
  • Continuous improvement / lean manufacturing understanding
  • Competent with computer-aided drafting and engineering drawings
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned at management’s discretion

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in an engineering or engineering technologist program (mechanical or industrial).
  • Prefer 5 years experience in a manufacturing / process environment
  • Eligible for registration with APEGM or CET an asset
  • Experience participating in or leading technical problem solving including root cause analysis
  • Project management experience and / or PMP certification an asset
  • Expertise in RFID technology or industrial paint systems is preferred.
