The Opportunity: Front-End Web Engineer (Remote - Canada)

Ground News is seeking a passionate and innovative Web Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our cross-functional team, you will be instrumental in crafting exceptional, groundbreaking news experiences. Your expertise in building high-performance web applications with Next.js, coupled with a deep understanding of server-side components and generative AI tooling, will be essential in delivering cutting-edge solutions.

What you’ll Do:

• Craft Exceptional User Experiences: Leverage your skills in Next.js, React.js, and TypeScript to create intuitive and visually stunning web interfaces that delight our users.
• Optimize for Performance: Employ advanced optimization techniques and best practices to ensure our applications scale seamlessly and deliver lightning-fast performance.
• Harness the Power of Gen AI: Explore and implement innovative applications of generative AI to enhance user experiences, streamline development processes, and drive product innovation.
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with designers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into technical requirements.
• Own the Delivery Process: Take ownership of projects from inception to deployment, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality features.
• Foster a Culture of Innovation: Continuously explore new technologies and methodologies to stay ahead of the curve and contribute to our team's growth.

What you’ll Have:

• Deep Expertise in Web Technologies: Proven experience in building scalable web applications using Next.js, React.js, and TypeScript.
• Strong Understanding of Server-Side Rendering: A solid grasp of server-side components and their role in optimizing web performance.
• Proficiency in Modern Development Practices: Familiarity with agile methodologies, testing frameworks, and version control systems.
• Passion for Innovation: A drive to explore new technologies and approaches to create exceptional user experiences.
• Excellent Communication and Collaboration Skills: The ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
