Software Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of other technology platforms such as mobile, cloud, IoT, and blockchain.
  • Knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.

Shift schedule:
7pm - 7am CST; Wed, Thu, Fri, every other Sat (3x)

7am-7pm CST; Sun, Mon, Tue and every other Wed (1x)

Overall Responsibilities:

    • Job Monitoring: Monitor the mainframe environment for job status, performance, and resource utilization.
    • Restarting: Perform restarts of mainframe jobs and processes as needed to address issues and maintain system stability.
    • IPLs (Initial Program Load): Participate in and support IPLs to initiate the mainframe system and ensure proper system functionality.
    • Issue Remediation: Identify and remediate system issues, errors, and performance bottlenecks to maintain system reliability and performance.
    • Documentation: Maintain documentation related to system monitoring, job restarts, IPL procedures, and issue remediation activities.
    • Backup and Recovery: Implement and manage backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and system resilience in the event of failures or disasters.
      Additional responsibilities
    • Second-level support for system, batch, and user-related calls
    • Solve intermediate incidents with no assistance
    • Implement production support requests
    • Triage production and non-production issues
    • Ensure all department incidents are documented
    • Mentor and train technicians
    • Work with 3rd party and vendor support teams
    • Participate in project teams and technical meetings
    • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and safety rule
    • Other duties as assigned based on divisional needs
    • On-call support in emergency issues (not regular)

Skills:

    • Intermediate knowledge of TSO/ISPF, SDSF, mainframe subsystems and batch scheduling platforms
    • Intermediate experience with BMC Control-M GUI
    • Intermediate experience with BMC Control-M mainframe
    • Basic experience with using ServiceNow, and BigPanda for raising tickets
    • Thorough understanding of all mainframe network protocols and connectivity hardware
    • Intermediate knowledge of z architecture
    • Understanding of OPSMVS, JobTrac and DB2 is a plus
    • Ability to identify system and scheduling bottlenecks and respond or escalate accordingly
    • Intermediate problem prevention, problem resolution and monitoring skills
    • Intermediate knowledge and demonstration of Disaster Recovery concepts
    • Thorough understanding of all mainframe network protocols and connectivity hardware

Experience:

  • Minimum of XX years of experience in software development, with a focus on other technologies.
  • Experience with software development methodologies and tools such as Agile, Scrum, Git, JIRA, and Confluence.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and participating in code reviews.

Day-to-Day Activities:

Qualification:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Soft Skills:

    • Intermediate skills in both verbal and written communication
    • Provides management guidance on technical directions
    • A motivated person able to manage routine and non-routine work with without direction
    • Understanding of, ability to create and capacity to teach all documented procedures
    • Ability to suggest process improvements and implement with approval
    • Intermediate forward-looking behavioral and intermediate technical skill
    • Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance and reports team exceptions to management
    • Ability to follow detailed and non-specific procedures with a high degree of accuracy.
    • Ability to ensure positive interaction of all team members, AGT teams and business customers.
    • Intermediate aptitude for logic, problem solving skills and maintain composure in a variety of situation
    • Three to five years’ related educational or work experience.
