Data Engineer

The Position and the Team

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer with excellent capabilities in advanced and modern data processing of large volumes and velocity to join our team.

In this position, you and the team are responsible for:

• Architecting and developing our data platform, which includes Fetching, processing, and preparing data – both batch and real-time data.
• Developing Analytics reports and tools.
• Develop and manage ML-models.
• Piloting and driving AI-use cases into production.
• The team also has a DevOps responsibility which in our case means that “what we build we also operate, and we take care of it”.

The Data Team interacts and serves business value to almost every part of the organization. The team is also responsible for delivering direct customer value, either by supporting customer facing colleagues or via customer facing Data products.

The team is highly advanced and has run production-workloads using Big Data technologies for more than 8 years and constantly innovates, improves, and iterates the solution. The platform processes 400 000 000 000 real-time events per year and is currently running several thousands of online Machine Learning models (in production).

This role reports to our Head of Data (Data Science and Analytics team) and is located in Stockholm, Karlskrona or Gothenburg.

Required Experience and Skills

To be successful in this position, you should have extensive experience and skills in advance use cases of:

• PySpark

• Pandas

• Athena/Trino

• Apache Iceberg

• AWS Glue

• AWS StepFunctions

• Apache Flink

• CI/CD design patterns.

• Python

• Java

• Data-oriented test-cases

• Reference Data management

• Distributed workloads including partitioning strategies.

• Scalable data processing patterns.

Other requirements

• MSc in Software/Data Engineering or similar
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and preferably Swedish. Residence and work permit in Sweden

We put strong emphasis on the experience of processing high and growing volume data usecases. For example, you should have been part of a team that faced scaling issues of your data processing task at least couple of times during your career. If your team solved it by moving to a larger instance, then we won’t be impressed. If throughput scaled linearly with your cluster scale-out, then you might be a good candidate. On the other hand, if you can give examples where your team’s redesigned solutions resulted in a lowering of cost per billion records processed – then you are likely an ideal candidate!

Candidates should also be knowledgeable in secure design and access patterns, and preferably hold AWS Certificate or at least Associate level in any of the Data Engineer, Solution Architect or Developer domains.
