Cognos Business Intelligence Engineer

Responsibilities

• Engineer and administer Business Intelligence and reporting solutions using Cognos, Tableau and Crystal Reports platforms
• Strong solution engineering and architecture experience in BI space specifically in Cognos, Tableau, and Crystal Reports
• Experience on Motio CI integration with Cognos Analytics. Additional knowledge on Cognos SDK and Cognos life cycle manager is a plus
• Hands-on experience in Cognos security customization, installation and configuration of Cognos framework and third party tools
• Depth of understanding in reporting platforms and optimized best practices for proper and efficient maintenance, with skills within applicable telemetry and measuring and monitoring availability, latency, performance and system health
• Assist development teams to migrate applications to Docker based PaaS platform
• Build automation strategy migration & patching of Business intelligence and reporting platforms

• Ability to perform performance benchmarking, analysis and tuning

• Experience in implementing RBAC Security

• Installation/configuration of Apache tomcat to configure system.xml and web.xml files

• Cognos User LDAP/Active Directory Integration/Synchronization preferred
• Involve in design and capacity planning efforts to provide suggestion in reporting platform usage
• Solid knowledge of monitoring tools and fine tuning alerts on Datadog ,Splunk, APM
• Providing Backup & Recovery and problem determination strategies for the projects and platforms
• Experience with connecting to Hadoop, Oracle Sybase, DB2, Netezza, Teradata, and SQL databases

• Provide strategic vision in engineering solutions for Business Intelligence and Reporting

• Strong understanding of business continuity and disaster recovery requirements, and general IT processes such as Change Management, Configuration Management, Problem Resolution, and Incident Tracking is required

Qualifications

• Professional experience in Business Intelligence and Reporting platforms leveraging Cognos Analytics, Tableau and Crystal Reports

• Ability to build and troubleshoot BI platform issues to reduce MTTR and MTBF to meet platform SLA

• Preferred experience in Automated provisioning and configuration of environment

• Solid understanding of deploying and operating in Windows/Linux variants environments

• In-depth experience in handling BI and reporting platform migrations/upgrades

• Must have proven prior experience in managing large platforms at enterprise scale

• Must be well versed in generic administration tasks, networking and standard infrastructure concepts

• Must have knowledge of Linux kernel options such as control groups and defining application groups to restrict resources

• Capabilities in programming language such as PowerShell/similar and leveraging tooling such as Ansible or BladeLogic

• Experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk, Datadog, APM

• Competent working in one or more environments highly integrated with an operating system

• Critical thinking skills to evaluate alternatives and present solutions that are consistent with business objectives and strategy.

• Ability to manage tasks independently and take ownership of responsibilities

• Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment

• Ability to communicate highly complex technical information clearly and articulately for all levels and audiences.

• Willingness to learn new technologies/tool and cross-train your peers

• Proven track record to automate
