This role is based in Auckland (preferred), Tauranga, Hastings or Wellington

At Te Taurapa Tūhono | New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) we use our extensive knowledge and global networks to help Kiwi businesses turn their global ambitions into reality. What you'll be doing - Te whakamahere

This role is at the forefront of growing Māori businesses internationally. Partnering with a portfolio of mostly early-stage customers across food and beverage or tech, software, services and manufacturing industry, you'll bring your digital mindset, exceptional relationship building and external stakeholder management skills along with a collaborative approach to achieving collective goals. You use your excellent listening and influencing skills to understand what they do, their challenges and opportunities, and assist them achieve their international growth goals. This role will ideally be based in Auckland but other North Island locations may be considered.

A natural problem solver, you will be self-disciplined and have a good understanding of the complexities of Māori and international business to help guide your customers in their journey. You will use your exceptional relationship building skills to engage with a wide range of Māori companies and key stakeholders to find and attract ambitious Māori exporters to bring into the Te Taurapa Tūhono | NZTE customer portfolio. Ideally, you will understand the dynamics of Iwi relationships and tikanga and will have the ability to build relationships inside and outside of Māoridom.

What you'll need to be successful - Ō Pūkenga

You will understand the context and dynamics of Māori business and will have the ability to build relationships with a broad range of stakeholders. Your experience may have been gained from within one industry however, this is not a deal breaker as your dynamic learning ability, interest and drive to help Māori businesses to succeed is more important to us. You will be enthusiastic, a strong communicator and be able to build rapport and develop strong and trusted relationships.

You will possess passion and energy to help regional businesses succeed on the global stage. The successful person for this role will need to be truly customer centric, that means you will really understand your customers' opportunities and challenges. This will be done by connecting to our customers with empathy, credibility, and commercial reality.

An understanding of te reo, tikanga and kawa is preferred but you will also be proactively supported on your te ao Māori journey throughout your career with Te Taurapa Tūhono.
