AECOM is actively seeking a creative and highly talented Senior Transportation Hydraulics Engineer based in Raleigh, North Carolina. This position will serve as a technical lead and support role on drainage and hydraulic transportation projects and designs.
Typical duties and responsibilities:
- Preparing and reviewing working drawings, plans, cost estimates, studies, reports and other work products
- Analysis and design of stormwater drainage system, hydraulic structures, and highway drainage systems
- Perform independent tasks and reviewing technical work of others.
- Mentor, lead, and training junior level staff.
- Drafting technical reports and memoranda.
- Face to face interaction with clients.
- Will manage staff on complex projects and coordinate with public agencies.
- Independently manage technical tasks and staff.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
- Participate in developing services for planning, design, engineering, procurement and contracting, permitting and construction services.
- Participate in developing practices for public agencies to maintain compliance with stormwater regulations.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS in Civil, Environmental, or related engineering field plus four (6) years of demonstrated equivalency of experience and /or education.
- Professional engineering license in the State of North Carolina or able to obtain within 6 months of hire date.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five (5) years of engineering experience including design of pipe systems, channels, and stormwater design.
- Good organizational, leadership, communications, influencing, and negotiation skills.
- Developing stormwater management retrofit design plans (site and structural).
- Low Impact Development (LID) and Environmental Site Design (ESD) assessment and design, including within rights-of-way.
- Experience in detention basin modeling.
- Understanding of surface water quality, stormwater quality, and stormwater management in construction and post-construction settings, hydrology, fluvial processes, and applicable rules and regulations.
- Experience in erosion and sedimentation control design.
- Experience in developing project plans and specifications.
- Preparing specifications and cost estimates Construction bid support.
- Experience and familiarity with the following programs: HEC-RAS 1-D, HydroCAD, AutoCAD, Microstation (V8i/ORD), Geopak Drainage, HY-8, SRH-2D, PCSWMM.
- Strong analytical and computation skills.
- Knowledge of civil engineering principles.
- Project management experience with public / private clients.
