As a CAD/CAM Engineer, you will work as an integral member of Nautique's Manufacturing Engineering team. This position is responsible for all production-ready CNC files and related items. This includes, but is not limited to, producing, managing, and maintaining all CNC files used for production and service parts purposes.

Key Responsibilities:

CAD Design:

  • Design, develop and engineer high-quality models using 3D and 2D CAD tools.
  • Perform engineering work related to configuring, deploying, programming, optimizing, maintaining, and upgrading CAD files and models.
  • Create and modify technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics with precision and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the design team to ensure designs meet technical specifications and functional requirements.
  • Evaluate and analyze designs to meet targets for manufacturing feasibility, performance, cost, quality, safety, timing, and industry standards.
  • Communicate production constraints as new designs are integrated into the manufacturing floor.
  • Determine and communicate limitations, assumptions, and solutions in the design and development of CAD models.
  • Aid and advise in the development of new products.
  • Collaborate with the product design and development team to create full-size prototype parts for Production engineering and cost analysis.
  • Track design iterations and respond quickly to changes.
  • Create specification drawings for prototyping and manufacturing of new products.

CAM Programming:

  • Integrate new product designs into production including CNC manufacturable files, manufacturing instructions, and visual management.
  • Utilize a variety of CAM software to generate CNC programs for machining and manufacturing processes.
  • Optimize manufacturing processes using 5S and Lean principles to enhance efficiency and minimize production time while maintaining quality standards.
  • Aid production with CNC troubleshooting on program designs.

Quality Control and Documentation:

  • Perform quality checks on designs and prototypes to ensure adherence to specifications and standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of design iterations, changes, and manufacturing processes.
  • Capture material usages and create E-BOM's for in-house manufacturing items.
  • Perform time studies and calculate labor costs for in-house manufacturing items.
  • Maintain an understanding of the capacity of the CNC processes based off current required workload.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including engineers, designers, and manufacturing personnel to coordinate project objectives and timelines.
  • Collaborate with Engineers, Designers, Managers, Operators to integrate new models, execute revisions, and implement changes on existing models.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to resolve design and manufacturing issues.
  • Ensure that all work carried out is in compliance with company design, safety, quality, environmental compliance, and procedural standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA) and CAM tools (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360).
  • Experience in creating CNC programs and knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Involvement in recreational skiing, slalom, and wakeboarding.
  • Excellent organizational skills and be self-motivated.
  • Be able to work well in a team environment with all departments within Nautique Boat Company.
  • Must be a licensed driver with a good driving record (subject to MVR)
