AECOM is seeking an Entry Level Staff Geotechnical Engineer to be located in Phoenix, AZ.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct Geotechnical field explorations, borehole logging, construction observation, collect Geotechnical samples, reporting of daily field operations, review of Geotechnical data, perform Geotechnical analysis, and report writing
  • Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop engineering practice and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities
  • Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids. Execute geotechnical engineering analysis, including slope stability, seepage, settlement, shallow and deep foundations, retaining walls, and seismic, with input and guidance from senior geotechnical engineers.
  • Prepare summary reports / tables for geotechnical field investigation data, as well as aiding on less complex external and internal deliverables.
  • Develop tangible engineering design skills through field experience. This may include construction support (verification of design implementation, adherence to quality, contractor/owner engagement), site inspections, and geotechnical investigations. Also provide construction support from the office by adapting designs to field conditions.
  • Demonstrate ability to build trusting working relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Execute assignments while utilizing critical thinking, engineering procedures to carry out project tasks.
  • Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
  • Use computer programs including GeoStudio, LPILE, GROUP, SHAFT, Plaxis, Settle3, and MathCAD for geotechnical analyses.
  • Preparing Project Work Plans and Health and Safety Plans

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Geotechnical/Geological Engineering
  • Valid drivers license required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology preferred.
  • Field Work experience consisting of subsurface investigations and construction testing services
  • Analysis/Design experience with slope stability, retaining walls, shallow and deep foundations is desired
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
  • Experience using geotechnical software.
  • The ability to work well within a team
