We seek a highly skilled and experienced Palo Alto Engineer to join our team. As a Palo Alto Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical analysis, planning, engineering, and design in the field of network security. You will serve as the enterprise expert in enterprise network and cyber security infrastructure, ensuring the efficient and effective implementation of network security solutions. This position requires expertise in network and cyber security hardware and software, including routers, firewalls, and Intrusion Detection/Intrusion Prevention devices.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct technical analysis and provide expertise in network security planning, engineering, and design.
  • Serve as the enterprise expert in enterprise network and cyber security infrastructure, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Analyze implementation techniques and tools to identify the most efficient solutions for network security problems.
  • Maintain technical expertise in network and cyber security hardware and software, including routers, firewalls, and IDS/IPS devices.
  • Coordinate third-party maintenance for network and cyber security equipment and troubleshoot problems.
  • Validate network security design and assess newly released equipment software and operating systems for vulnerabilities.
  • Provide specifications and detailed schematics for unified network architecture.
  • Monitor and detect potential performance and throughput issues, developing risk mitigation solutions.
  • Provide guidance to team members, report status metrics to the Government customer and Peraton management.
  • Provide third-level support and troubleshooting for network problems, including after-hours and weekend support.
  • Design, test, and implement secure operating systems, networks, and database products, including high-level dashboards.

Requirements

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant cyber security experience, or Master's Degree and 7 years of relevant cyber security experience, or PhD with 4 years of relevant cyber security experience, or 13 years of relevant cyber security experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Expert-level certification in Palo Alto (PCNSE).
  • 6 years of experience performing security functions on network devices, appliances, and security tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate security mandates and guidelines such as NIST 800-series into operational functions.
  • 6 years of experience with whitelisting and blacklisting using network security tools and devices.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Public Trust clearance.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder AND be able to pass a drug screen and background investigation

It would be great if you also had:

  • 3 years of experience with scalable firewall platforms, preferably with Checkpoint or Palo Alto products
  • 2 years of experience with virtual firewalls.
  • 2 years of experience with Skybox tool.
  • Knowledge of Tenable/Nessus, Sourcefire, Stealthwatch, and DbProtect.
  • Prior experience supporting the Social Security Administration or similar government agencies.
  • Knowledge of business processes supporting IT programs, networks, and/or cybersecurity programs.
  • Understanding of technologies, networking principles, data flows, workflows, and IT reporting.
  • Familiarity with network security tools.
