A Day In The Life Of Our Sr. Clinical Engineer

  • Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of flexible endoscopy procedures and the associated technologies in order to empathize with Patients, Physicians, and Payers.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and Physicians in order to identify and analyze clinical pain points and technology gaps associated with endoluminal procedures.
  • Serve as Clinical Engineering lead on a variety of early initiatives focused on improving the efficacy and efficiency of endoscopic procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with product management and product development to define and validate clinical performance goals for new products.
  • Assess and document clinical risks and advise engineering regarding risks and mitigations.
  • Write protocols and conduct formal testing to validate the pre-clinical safety and efficacy of engineering proof-of-concepts.
  • Perform informal assessments of the clinical performance of prototype designs.
  • Present and demonstrate the product, from early prototypes to final designs, to potential customers and physician users.
  • Work with physicians to identify clinical needs and understand competitive dynamics of other products and companies in the marketplace.
  • Assist in development of training materials.
  • Develop testing fixtures and model development for the evaluation of prototypes.
  • Analyze clinically relevant performance data and provide feedback via reports and presentations.
  • Serve as an example of the Noah Culture to the team, foster a collaborative environment, and facilitate career development opportunities for the team.

About You:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering (or other related disciplines) or an advanced degree with required years of directly related experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the medical device industry required, preferably in the development of articulating catheters, endoscopes, or surgical instruments.
  • Strong technical experience and aptitude
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and negotiation skills; proven collaborator.
  • Strong team player with a demonstrated history of success working in a multi-disciplinary, cross-functional environment
  • Experience working with physicians in an operating room environment.
  • Good understanding of human anatomy. Interest in constantly learning new areas of anatomy and physiology, depending upon the procedure focus.
  • Ability to structure detailed analysis of complex problems.
  • Ability to present and communicate data associated with all analyses in verbal, written and presentation formats.
  • Ability to be both a leader/supervisor and hands-on.
  • Experience developing protocols and SOP’s for use in the evaluation of prototypes.
  • Proven ease and credibility in working with surgeons and physicians, both in a hospital setting and in a pre-clinical test setting.
  • Proven experience in developing pre-clinical experimental models, including tissue models.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time as needed to attend conferences and physician meetings.
  • This position will require you to work primarily out of our Sunnyvale office along with our Research office in Pleasanton. Candidates will need to occasionally travel to Noah’s San Carlos office during intradepartmental events, lab days, physician visits, and other collaborative sessions.
