The Budget Lead is a key member of the financial operations team, and leads the budgeting, forecasting, long-term planning, implementation, and business strategic analysis for a portfolio of departments and programs. In this role the Budget Lead will work with department and program leaders to develop complex forecasting models. The Budget Lead will also work with the CFO, Deputy CFO, and Accounting Team to ensure timely analysis, reconciliation and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with department and program leaders to develop monthly and quarterly budgets
  • Conduct thorough analysis of historical financial data to inform budgeting decisions
  • Create and maintain financial models to support the decision making process
  • Track actuals versus budget and monitor financial trends and performance to identify risks, opportunities, and recommendations for leadership
  • Participate in and support the budget team’s portion of monthly close activities and regular financial presentations to leadership and other stakeholders
  • Portfolio of departments and programs may include Events, Fundraising, HQ, Technology, Paid Media, and State Field Operations
  • Other duties as assigned to support the department and the DNC's mission.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • 4-6+ years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis
  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets a must
  • Familiarity with Planful, Sage Intacct, AnyBill, Expensify, or Concur is a plus
  • A desire to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Experience volunteering or working on a political campaign a plus but not required

The starting salary for the Budget Lead position is $90,000, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

This is a full-time, exempt position that may require work on weekends, and has an end date of November 15, 2024.
