Department Overview

The Unified Communications team has a mission to become the leader in creating a highly scalable software platform and communication applications for first responders and industrial workgroups. Our customers rely on these solutions to run their critical business operations in the public safety, manufacturing, and infrastructure sectors. Every single day, we are shaping the future of mobile workgroup solutions for public safety and industrial users worldwide leveraging Motorola’s rich heritage in this space. Our solutions include broadband Push to Talk (PTT), multimedia messaging, location based collaboration, video streaming with full interoperability with land mobile radio (LMR) systems. The products include client apps on Android, iOS, and Windows. Our backend software can be deployed On-Prem, in private data centers, or in a public cloud infrastructure.

Job Description

Engineering Manager position within Unified Communications Tier 3 department is a cross-functional, high-visibility role that works closely with Customers, CMSO, Offer Managers, Sales and development teams to ensure that all the PTT Issues are resolved and the customer’s experience of using PTT service is positive, seamless and satisfying. Lead the team in Analyzing, troubleshooting push to talk issues while always keeping in mind about reliability, scalability, resilience, security, and performance.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and Lead a team of engineers ensuring the system is up for all the mission-critical systems deployed across the world.
• Track all technical support cases until resolution. Escalate cases as necessary, working directly with CMSO/Design teams.
• Own end-to-end availability and performance of key network and application services and building automation to prevent problem recurrence.
• Working level knowledge of Managed Service and Performance Management (SLA/KPIs)
• Coordinate with a diverse team of internal & external: CMSO, Offer Management, Pre-sales, SI, Verification, and Delivery teams to address customer issues.
• Recognize Production issue trends and plan for/ propose corrective actions

Additional Qualified Skills:

• Strong project management, ability to successfully manage multiple tasks at any given point, strong relationship building skills & communication skills.
• Support ,align efforts to meet customer and business needs.
• Should have experience with ticketing tools like ServiceDesk, Jira..etc
• Manage customer relationships and expectations by developing a communication process to keep others up-to-date on project results
• Ability to provide advice, best practices and recommendations for the operation and deployment of Microsoft Azure.
• Familiarity with Linux and UNIX systems (e.g. CentOS, RedHat) and command line system administration such as Bash, VIM, SSH.
• Network routing, Load balancing and Networking protocols, a base knowledge of TCP/IP, with an understanding of HTTP and DNS
• Basic programming and scripting skills (preferably bash, shell,perl,python,java etc.,)

Good to have:

• Demonstrated understanding of Agile methodologies, ITIL methodologies, ITIL v3 or v4 certification
• Demonstrable experience Database like SQL,Hadoop,CouchBase,Gridgain..etc
• Demonstrable experience in Containerization-Docker ,orchestration (Kubernetes) and Microservices.

Basic Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in managing SRE/DevOps teams
