Acuity is currently seeking a Trauma Surgeon to provide support for on-site health units for rapid deployment to support emergency efforts. This is a temporary position and length of assignment may vary based on operational needs and client requirements.

**This position is notional and contingent upon contract award****

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts trauma evaluations; Performs exploratory surgeries, chest wall stabilizations, appendectomies, and bronchoscopies as well as nonoperative techniques. Coordinates patient care with other providers; Addresses acute medical conditions, traumatic brain injury, burns, automobile crash injuries, severe fall injuries, spleen and liver injuries, and critical illness complications.
  • Provide preoperative, operative, and post-operative management of patient care.
  • Records and maintains patient information in accordance with standard protocols, and the Privacy Act.
  • Protects patients' privacy through confidentiality, infection control procedures, assuring consistent medication administration, and assuring proper storage and maintenance procedures for all equipment and supplies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with contract requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Board certification (or eligibility) through the American Board of Surgery, MD or DO and Ability to obtain unrestricted medical license and hospital privileges and the ability to be favorability credentialed
  • Must be fellowship trained in trauma, surgical critical care or acute care surgery.
  • Must have ATLS and ACLS certification.
  • Proficiency with computer and common office equipment, as well as with MS Office products required.
  • Must be able to perform duties in a stressful and high paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Due to varied current global health climate, additional personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines may apply. Employees may potentially be working in an environment supporting the medical response to an emergency health crisis.
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • May require bending, stooping, and lifting as required for patient care and transport
