Job Title: Legal Counsel - Crypto & General In-House
Location: Gibraltar in-house (or remote within England and Wales or Europe)

Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel with a strong background in crypto-related legal matters and general practice to support in-house expertise. The ideal candidate will be Gibraltar or England and Wales qualified or a relevant European jurisdiction to our operations, possessing a minimum of 4/5 years PQE. This role presents an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in shaping the Damex group’s legal structure, daily commercials, regulatory strategy, risks and opportunities in the digital assets industry.
This role may be employed in Gibraltar or remote subject to Damex’s remote working policy.
Responsibilities:
The role will involve providing

Provide commercial and evidenced legal guidance on all aspects of cryptocurrency-related matters, including regulatory compliance, licensing, governance & risk, corporate structuring, investments and M&A.

Stay up to date with regulatory developments and industry trends in the crypto and payments space to ensure compliance and mitigate legal risks.

Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and terms related to our services throughout our group, digital asset transactions, token offerings, and other crypto-related activities.

Assist and support senior management with contract review, procurement and legal project management for products and services.

Support in the Damex group’s IP strategy and dispute resolution/litigation matters.

Provide guidance on employment law matters, with particular support for employment contracts, workplace policies, and dispute resolution.

Risk Management and Compliance:
- Lead and assist on Conduct legal risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate risks associated with business operations, ensuring adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to implement compliance policies and procedures, fostering a culture of legal and ethical compliance within the organisation.

Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and compliance, to address legal issues and support business objectives.
- Collaborate with external legal advisors, regulators, and industry partners as needed to achieve legal and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications:
- Qualified barrister or solicitor in Gibraltar or England and Wales or relevant European jurisdiction, with 4/5 years PQE.
- Extensive experience in cryptocurrency and payments related legal and regulatory matters, including regulatory compliance and transactional work.
- Experience in corporate law, contracts, employment and being efficient with drafting and managing transactions.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Second language in Spanish or other European languages will provide the ability to support the business in more opportunities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines effectively.
