About this position:
Context Labs is seeking a Principal Backend Engineer to help drive forward our product initiatives with our Immutably™ Platform and analytics spaces. Working as an integral leader within the development team, the engineer will lead many aspects of developing our blockchain services, APIs, and related product capabilities; as well as provide thought leadership, upskilling of less senior engineers, and taking part in defining strategic linkages across the company’s products. This role will report to the VP, Engineering.

In this role you will:

• Lead the Scrivener & Trust services engineering team as a technical authority.
• Develop and maintain blockchain APIs and services for use within the Immutably™ Platform.
• Collaborate with other development teams and the product owner to define and estimate business requirements and then translate these into specific software tasks.
• Lead hands-on software development of Scrivener and related projects using multiple (minimally JVM) languages.
• Provide exemplary code, structure, design, etc. for the platform services team to use as guidelines.
• Document designs, architecture, code
• Conduct code reviews
• Head technical talks on a variety of issues
• Design and implement performant, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
• Collaborate as a member of an agile team to get products developed and completed with best-in-class software development.
• Coach and mentor members of your team through the variety of technological, and methodological challenges they face day-today.
• Coordinate across a distributed team spanning multiple time zones.
• Anything else as may reasonably be required by the company.

Experience & Skills:

• 10+ years of experience in full-stack development

• Great communication skills

• End-to-end understanding of modern application architectures

• Big picture orientation with strong attention to detail

• Proficiency in unit and functional testing

• Experience designing and implementing blockchain architectures from scratch.

• Strong understanding of cryptographic principles, including hashing, digital signatures, and encryption techniques.

• Experience in developing and implementing consensus algorithms (e.g., Proof of Work, Proof of Stake, Byzantine Fault Tolerance).

• In-depth knowledge of distributed systems and peer-to-peer networking.

• Experience in implementing security best practices to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of blockchain data.

• Skills in optimizing blockchain performance, including transaction throughput, latency, and scalability.

• Experience in developing and integrating APIs for blockchain applications.

• Strong skills in debugging and troubleshooting blockchain-related issues.

• Experience with Docker based microservice architectures.

• Experience with source repositories (git/Bitbucket)

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with functional programming
• Experience with alternate JVM languages
• Experience with Rust
• Experience developing dApps
• A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
