About the role:

On the DevX team at Kong, you will design, develop, and maintain microservices that power the Konnect Dev Portal. The Konnect Dev Portal is how our customers’ users discover, experiment, and integrate with their APIs and systems hosted on the Konnect platform. Working closely with Engineering and Product teams, you will develop API-focused software components that will materially impact the business of both Kong and Kong’s customers.

What you'll do:

• Implement and maintain services that power the Konnect Dev Portal. Examples include an API documentation engine, powerful portal customization, and Kong gateway application configuration.

• Design and implement solutions to technical problems of moderate complexity.

• Support those services in production by participating in an on-call rotation.

• Write automated tests to ensure high-quality code and avoid regressions.

• Mentor other team members.

• Any additional tasks required by your manager.

What you'll bring:

• 5+ years working in a team to develop, deliver, and maintain complex software solutions.

• Expertise in Golang, Node.js, and/or Typescript.

• Experience designing, prototyping, building, and debugging microservice architectures and distributed systems.

• Experience developing and supporting a large-scale SaaS platform.

• Expertise in designing and writing APIs, and a firm grasp of API lifecycle management.

• Expertise with data modeling in relational and no-SQL databases.

• Understanding of and development with git and GitHub workflows.

• Expertise in test-driven development and automated testing.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Bonus Points

• Deep experience with Golang, Typescript, Node.js, or JavaScript.

• Experience with the JVM and languages that run on it, like Java or Scala.

• A working knowledge of containerization and Kubernetes.

• A passion for APIs and Documentation.
