Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed structural analysis, stress calculations and stress predictions on UAV fighter aircraft.
  • Start with first principles, then spreadsheet first-order models, then develop finite element models (FEM) to predict structural performance and identify potential failure modes.
  • Collaborate with the design and prototyping teams to optimize structural designs for weight, strength, and durability.
  • Conduct fatigue and damage tolerance analysis to ensure long-term reliability of UAV structures.
  • Provide technical guidance and support in the selection of materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Document analysis methods, results, and recommendations in detailed engineering reports.
  • Participate in design reviews, providing critical input on structural aspects of the UAV designs.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in aerospace structural analysis and materials.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Proven experience in aerospace structural analysis, particularly in the design and prototyping phases.
  • Proficiency with structural analysis tools and software such as ANSYS, NASTRAN, ABAQUS, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of finite element analysis (FEA) principles and techniques, statics, elastics, and solid mechanics.
  • Knowledge of materials science, including composite materials, and their applications in aerospace structures.
  • Familiarity with CAD software such as NX, CATIA, SolidWorks, or equivalent.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with high-performance fighter drones or similar UAVs.
  • Experience with carbon fiber structural modeling
  • Understanding of aerodynamics and its impact on structural design.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes for aerospace components, including additive manufacturing and advanced composites.

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offers may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and training, critical skills, and business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in most offers and are considered part of Mach’s total compensation package.
