The Role:

Reporting to the Global Senior Accounting Manager in our New York City HQ, the position will be responsible for overseeing the accounting function of the India entity and working alongside the global accounting team. You will work as part of a growing team at a well-funded growth-stage tech company and there will be significant opportunities for rapid career advancement.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the full accounting cycle for the India service entity of 500+ employees, under the global AlphaSense umbrella.
• Improve processes to enable monthly close by the second business day of each month.
• Serve as the main Accounting and Tax point of contact on India related matters (e.g. statutory and tax audits, external and internal queries, and etc.)
• Implement T&E process and system; work with the global benefit team on managing the T&E policy.
• Onboard corporate credit card program and implement usage policy, incorporating both India specific and global requirements.
• Evaluate the company’s Gratuity funding scheme and onboard external service providers.
• Partner with the global accounting team on company wide system implementation for automation and SOX controls.
• Partner with Accounts Payable team on managing cash payments.
• Work with the Director of Tax, legal team, and external firms to ensure compliance with Indian legislation and taxes, such as GST and TDS.
• Work with the global accounting team and Director of Tax to maintain appropriate transfer pricing policies.

Requirements

• 10+ years of accounting experience, with CA
• Experience in owning the accounting function of a local Indian entity which is part of a larger multi-national public company
• Track record of building process, systems, and scaling teams in a hyper growth environment
• Experience working with members in multiple time zones and across international borders.
• A self starter who can operate independently and in a large team setting
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Experience in using accounting software (Sage Intacct a plus, but not required)
• Experience with a Big 4 firm, with focus on medium to large enterprises preferred
• Proficiency in MS Office is required
• Fluent in English
