About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced legal professional to join a rapidly scaling firm in the high growth information services sector. The Legal & Client Protection function is a critical part of the Dialectica knowledge sharing platform, responsible to ensure that our clients are able to access the world’s most valuable knowledge sources in a safe, confidential and compliant framework.

We are seeking a skilled Legal Counsel with a strong background in corporate law. As a Legal Counsel in Dialectica you will play a crucial role in handling a diverse range of corporate and business legal matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate and/or commercial law, preferably with at least 3 years of post-qualification experience gained as an in-house lawyer within an international company or reputable law firm.

You will get involved with all aspects of Dialectica’s legal issues: contract drafting and negotiation, privacy, intellectual property and corporate governance. This is an international role based in Bogota and you will be working on the legal activities of Dialectica’s entire corporate group.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and support to the company on corporate governance, compliance and regulatory matters
• Provide legal support to various business departments on day-to-day operations
• Draft, review and support negotiations on commercial and procurement contracts
• Conduct legal research and analysis to stay abreast of relevant legal developments and provide proactive advice to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including senior management and other departments, to provide legal advice with a thorough understanding of business priorities and financial concepts
• Manage external legal advisors internationally in relation to a variety of legal matters
• Assist and support Compliance function re compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards, including data protection and intellectual property.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Law
• Qualified lawyer with at least 3-5 years PQE in Colombia; preferably in an in-house international role or a reputable law firm in the areas of corporate and business law, however, we hire people not CVs, if you have much more PQE than requested, feel free to apply and if you fit we will find the right environment and career opportunity for you.
• Knowledge of local employment law, labor and corporate governance matters
• Drafting and negotiation experience in a fast-paced environment, preferably focused on business transactions
• Experience with intellectual property rights will be considered a plus
• US experience will be considered a plus
• Proactive, combining attention to detail with a a strategic approach to problem-solving and risk assessment
• Confidence in interaction with other functions/clients and flexibility operating in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent organizational, project and time management skills
• Solution-oriented, intellectual flexibility to work through complex issues with multiple stakeholders independently and to propose workable solutions within tight deadlines
• Great analytical skills, ability to identify legal issues and mitigate them and explain complex matters in clear, accessible language
• Strong written, oral, and presentation skills.
• Fluent in English. Any other language skills is a plus.
