The Role

As Financial Director, you will be responsible for analyzing, reporting, and advising on the financial health of global business. This is an imperative function within the business and will aid decision-making for improvement and optimization of the business towards our strategic goals.

You will advise leaders on commercials and project decision-making and support the commercial function with revenue forecasting and commission plan administration.

The Financial Director will lead strategic financial projects for the business. This includes for example, process optimization, systems integration, data governance and reliability of financial information. You will work with all divisions across the business and regularly report to the executive team.

In this role you will lead the technical competence areas of the function such as audit,

treasury, tax and reporting. You will oversee accounting operations, produce accurate reports on where money is going within the business and improve or change current practices to increase efficiency.

You will report directly to the Group CFO based in the US.

Functional areas reporting into you are Accounting and Treasury.

Financial analysis

  • Analyze the financial health of the business, using the company’s key financial metrics and other quantitative methods. Report to the leadership team monthly, with recommendations on improving performance and managing risk.
  • Perform financial analysis and ROI analysis on key projects within the business.
  • Perform profitability and ROI analyses along multiple themes, e.g. product, customer and regional.
  • Put plans in place to validate the accuracy of operational data relied on for analysis, and work with internal stakeholders to put controls and processes in place that ensures data integrity.
  • Design a portfolio of key financial metrics that are needed by the business to drive us towards our strategic goals. Ensure these metrics, and the reason for having them, are socialized within the business. Deliver these metrics quarterly to internal stakeholders.
  • Provide early warning flags and recommendations to the business based on analyses performed.
  • Advising legal and commercial team on financial aspects of contracting.
  • Oversee all audit and internal control operations.

Treasury

  • Lead the treasury function which includes financial reporting, record-keeping, and managing incoming and outgoing funds.
  • Retain constant awareness of the company’s financial position and act to prevent cash flow risks.
  • Work with the Group CFO to develop and implement a cost optimization strategy.
  • Management of covenant requirements and reporting.

Strategic projects

  • Commercial review and pricing consultation, includes modelling and collaboration with the commercial team.
  • Assist with finance process efficiency through mapping processes, identifying inefficiencies, and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Lead the annual BEE audit (regarding the Ownership and Procurement elements) in collaboration with the People Office and external BEE consultant.
  • Other projects will be identified as and when the need arises.

Requirements

  • Fundamental to this role is to have clarity around business priorities and direction and keep up to date with trends in the market.
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles - IFRS experience, tax, laws and best practices
  • Proficient in the use of financial management software. Experience using Xero and Salesforce required
  • Proven experience as director of finance or similar role
  • SaaS or technology industry experience will be preferred
  • Solid knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting
  • BCom/BBusSci/BA in accounting, finance or relevant field; MSc/MA is a plus
  • CA(SA), CPA or other relevant qualification is a plus
