We are looking for a Senior DBA to help support our growing team.

As a Senior Database Administrator, you will lead and drive the strategic direction of our database

management initiatives, playing a pivotal role in delivering, maintaining, and innovating highly performant

data processing solutions as part of our software-as-a-service products. You will collaborate closely with

development teams to architect, design, and optimize complex database solutions, leveraging your deep

expertise to provide guidance and mentorship. In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring the

integrity of our databases through effective management of access controls and permissions, monitoring

database performance and availability, and conducting capacity planning and documentation to ensure

scalability and compliance with industry regulations. As a senior member of our team, you will serve as a

mentor and role model, sharing your knowledge and expertise with peers and junior team members.

What you'll do:

  • Lead the management and maintenance of databases, overseeing installation, configuration, and performance tuning to ensure optimal functionality and efficiency.
  • Develop and implement advanced backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data and minimize downtime in the event of system failures or disasters.
  • Spearhead the implementation of monitoring tools and alerts to proactively identify and address potential issues or anomalies in database performance and availability.
  • Collaborate with development teams, architects, and stakeholders to design and implement database schemas, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and data integrity.
  • Optimize database performance through indexing, query optimization, and resource utilization monitoring.
  • Forecast future database growth and resource requirements to ensure scalability and optimal performance.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior database administrators, fostering their professional growth and development within the team.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating best practices in database administration and performance optimization.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of database configurations, procedures, and best practices to facilitate knowledge sharing and compliance.
  • Develop and implement automation scripts or tools to streamline routine database administration tasks and improve efficiency.
  • Implement and enforce database security policies, roles, and permissions to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access or breaches.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards governing data privacy, security, and retention.

What it requires:

  • 5+ years as a Microsoft SQL Server DBA managing enterprise-level databases in a production environment.
  • 3+ years of experience with scripting languages (preferably PowerShell) for automation.
  • 2+ years of experience with cloud database platforms such as Microsoft Azure SQL Database.
  • 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services such as Azure DevOps and Azure Pipelines.
  • Comprehensive understanding and practical experience with advanced database concepts such as indexes, index management, statistics, and execution cache optimization.
  • Proficiency in database development, advanced TSQL, stored procedures, views, etc.
  • Proven track record of troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues, optimizing database performance, and implementing best practices for database management and administration.
  • Hands-on experience using database monitoring and alerting tools for issue detection and remediation, ensuring the continuous availability and reliability of database systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for Azure SQL with practical experience in designing and implementing robust HA/DR solutions.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and technologies, such as Microsoft SQL Server Data Warehouse, and Snowflake is a desirable
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex database issues
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and senior management.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision in database management tasks
  • Proactive and results-driven approach to tasks and projects, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
