Western Digital is seeking an experienced Creative Director to develop and lead a newly formed creative team to support Western Digital’s commercial and consumer brands.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader who is as comfortable leading a team of creative professionals as producing high quality creative assets. The ability to recruit, onboard, and lead an in-house team of creative professionals will be essential to success in the role.

As the champion of overall design excellence, they will align teams to create innovative and effective design solutions from inception through to delivery, impacting a varied and diverse set of design needs across all stages of the customer journey, from initial awareness, to point of purchase, and user experience.

The Creative Director must be an effective communicator, with the comfort and ability to effectively relay creative concepts and solutions to creative teams and key stakeholders. They must also be willing and able to jump in and create designs themselves when needed.

  • Willingness and capability to produce designs yourself when needed
  • Lead development of content that is resonant across a variety of touchpoints including product launches, category storylines, and curated events
  • Establish a best-in-class network of internal and freelance talent, and production partners to lead development of content that supports business needs
  • Support development of creative software UI/UX experiences that are optimized for improved usability, usefulness, and exceptional visual design
  • Understand our communities’ needs through insights and data to creatively and strategically express them through campaign ideas, content and stories
  • Partner with business leadership to distill needs into actionable design initiatives and elegant creative solutions to them

Requirements

Key Qualifications:

  • 18+ years of experience working with in-house creative teams or creative agencies
  • 5+ years leading multi-disciplinary creative teams including Design, Copywriting, Video, UI/UX, 3D/Motion Graphics
  • Demonstrated ability to strategically create and execute integrated campaigns with a consumer brand
  • Comfort working directly with a variety of software and tools to visualize and develop innovative design projects
  • Experience working with global brands; a combination of commercial (B2B) and consumer (B2C) technology brand experience a huge plus
  • Experience building effective teams across different locations and time zones.
