In Greece we conduct business through our joint venture with the National Bank of Greece, NBG Pay. NBG Pay provides merchant acquiring services to small, medium, large and corporate merchants across Greece. Services include the authorization, clearing, and settlement of credit, debit and prepaid card transactions between cardholders and merchants.

For NBG Pay, we are currently seeking a competent and experienced Financial Analyst to support the timely preparation and submission of all financial and regulatory reports and will be responsible for visualizing company operating results in terms of costs, budgets, and trends and making recommendations to Finance management. With a focus on driving financial improvement within the organization, the finance analyst will interpret and direct the accounting policies and procedures to align with the established financial strategy.

About the role

• Prepare reports and analyses for the management, in order to assist the proper evaluation of the financial performance of the business
• Partner in the proactive development of financial analytic materials and methodologies
• Partner with the Financial Accounting team in preparing management reporting as well as ad-hoc reporting for the respective business unit as required
• Coordinate the preparation of budget and rolling forecasts, supporting the accurate, reliable and timely production of information, through the respective data bases
• Conduct studies, productivity analyses, and surveys to identify areas for financial improvement
• Maintain integrity of the accounting system (software), ensuring it remains effective and operational at all times
• Review monthly accounting close process including analytical review of the monthly operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained
• Analyse business performance / results, with focus on Financial Project Management, providing feedback to senior management
• Explain variations to budgets and forecasts in management reports, including future/potential exposures to the organization
• Analyse data for internal purposes and reviews the reliability and integrity of financial information

About you

• University Degree in Finance, Economics or related field. A Master’s degree in a relevant field is desirable
• Five (5) plus years of experience in financial analysis or related discipline in a similar role. Experience within the Fintech/payments industry will be considered a plus
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office. Especially with reference to MS Excel, knowledge at an advanced level is necessary
• Basic knowledge of local accounting principles
• Experience in creating and using financial modelling tools, spreadsheets, and information acquisition tools including experience in interpreting complex conceptual analyses and reviewing financial modelling results
• Knowledge in management and processing of large volumes of data
• Knowledge of databases and data mining and analysis software
• Knowledge of using data visualization tools
• Knowledge of Oracle tools will be considered a plus
• Excellent command of the Greek/ English language (both written and verbally)
• Exposure to fast-changing environments and/ or start-ups is preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to quickly adjust to shifting priorities, multiple demands and change
• Strong problem-solving and skills and hands on approach
• Highly organized, with a strong sense of urgency and the ability to multi task
• A keen eye for detail and desire to probe further into data
