Job purpose:

The Senior Designer, Womenswear Denim & Sportswear will design within the domain of the Collection and collaborate in the creation of macro themes. He/she will work to develop a creative direction with the VP, Womenswear Design.

Job responsibilities:

Research:

• Research material according to the Collection’s macro themes;
• Present research in a concise and efficient selection that feels relevant;
• Work with design team to develop and expand particular areas of research in more depth;
• Take initiative in exploring and developing ideas that potentially are out of the macro themes of the collection, which can be nevertheless complementary;
• Take initiative and go out in an adventurous spirit and bring back ideas to the group.

Design:

• Design around the themes of the collection;

• Lead designers in specific development of design ideas;

• Deliver seasonal designs under leadership of VP Womenswear Design;

• Design functional and trendy items in line with the needs of our consumers and our brand values;

• Collaborate with your cross functional partners in Product Management, Development, Materials, Sourcing, and Merchandising to ensure the Company delivers designs that marry back to seasonal briefs in consideration of quality, cost, and aesthetic needs

• Use and expand technical skills in order to facilitate the making of a real garment;

• Coordinate the design team in working with Print department;

• Coordinate design team making sure time is spent in an efficient way.

Development:

• Work with the Production and Atelier teams and coordinate design team in order to prepare clear drawings that are easily explained;
• Work with Production and Atelier teams and technicians on the best way to construct the garment;
• Working alongside technicians to make sure that garments fit properly and have necessary volumes within the collections:
• Clearly communicate and drive functional and aesthetic intent with technical/development partners;
• Collaborating with product management and merchandising to develop line plan and design briefs.

Profile:

• Strong understanding of construction and build with technical drawing skills;

• Be aware of what is trending in fashion and ability to effectively communicate to the teams;

• Ability to translate trends into a commercial collection with a contemporary handwriting;

• Ability to work in a fast paced highly productive, environment with a hands-on mentality;

• Education in Design (BA, BFA, BS) or equivalent;

• +10 years of design experience in Womenswear Fashion Design with an excellent portfolio that covers multiple product types;

• Business English fluency (both written and verbal);

• An in-depth understanding of materials, color, construction, style, trend, design, marketplace and consumer knowledge;

• Excellent computer skills (Illustrator/Photoshop) & hand-drawn skills;

• Understanding/experience in 3d technology is an asset;

• Strong teamwork, communication and relationship skills;

• Management and coordination skills;

• Strong communication skills, verbal and written and a mindset to inspire;

• Curious mindset;

• Organization and problem solving skills;

• Availability to travel.
