Job Title: Head of Finance Services – Insulet Global Business Services (IGBS)

Department: Global Operations

Position Overview:

The Head of Finance Services for IGBS is a global position providing operational leadership for Finance operations and services which are embedded and led within the IGBS organization.

The Head of Finance Services for IGBS will report both to the Vice President of IGBS as well as the Senior Vice President of Finance (CFO) and be a key member of both leadership teams.

The service set envisioned within the responsibility of the roles is based on a range of finance business processes, many of which interact with non-finance functional areas. The Head of Finance Services for IGBS will also define and lead the implementation of the first wave of services for the Finance function to be implemented in IGBS. This leader will also work closely with the Finance organization to roadmap and agree transition plans for additional services and capabilities over time to become part of the global IGBS service platform in future waves.

As the Head of Finance Services for IGBS, this individual will have significant enterprise operational responsibilities for the Finance function, as well as play a key role in establishing IGBS as an enterprise platform for continuous process and customer experience improvement in Insulet. Key success factors will include proven operational leadership experience in Finance, as well as a desire and ability to drive end-to-end simplification, while delivering continuous improvements to customer experiences. This role requires a mix of strategic and operational knowledge and skill, an ability to influence and manage key stakeholders, and the passion and energy to operate cross-functionally in pursuit of value creation and continuously improving customer experience.

Responsibilities:

This role will lead Finance Services for IGBS, providing both operational leadership as well as forward thinking strategies for the evolution of Finance Services within IGBS. This individual will be a trusted member of both the IGBS and Finance leadership teams. S/he will work across boundaries, functions, and geographies and will work with external consultants where needed to support the work.

Define and Implement First Wave Services and Capabilities, Target Operating Model (TOM) and Transition into IGBS

  • Agree and document the TOM with Finance for services and capabilities to be transitioned into IGBS as part of the first wave of transition.
  • Identify and build the services leadership team and supporting organization necessary to transition and operate the agreed services.
  • Establish robust and functionally integrated implementation governance.
  • Define and activate detailed transition risk management tactics and plans.
  • Transition agreed services and capabilities within agreed planning timeframes, cost and service performance criteria.

Deliver Finance Operations to Agreed Quality, Control and Data Protection Standards

  • Agree and document service levels and performance criteria for in scope finance business processes and related services.
  • Where appropriate, ensure adequate operational controls and data privacy and data security mechanisms are in place for process and data within service scope.
  • Lead and operate services to meet or exceed agreed service levels and costs.
  • Work closely with the IGBS Continuous Improvement (CI) team to develop IGBS common, user-friendly methods for service performance reporting.
  • Lead service performance and CI discussions with functional leadership.

Actively Promote IGBS Cross-Functional Ways of Working (Put Windows in the Silos)

  • Work closely with other IGBS leaders to identify and deliver end-to-end continuous improvement outcomes.
  • Build and maintain active relationships between operational staff and key functional staff and leaders, ensuring effective engagement between operational and functional organizations.
  • Publish operational services on the IGBS service catalog and work closely with the IGBS Continuous Improvement team to optimize customer experience and service catalog adoption.
  • Support and work closely with IGBS program management to ensure operational area change efforts follow IGBS project and program management standards.
  • Support and work closely with IGBS CI and customer experience (CX) resources to adapt and promote common IGBS CI and CX practices.

Develop Third Party Supplier Strategic Plans and Manage Third Party Performance

  • Partner with indirect procurement to identify and contract suitable/strategic third party suppliers.
  • Maintain accountability for critical performance, control, data privacy and data security aspects of services delivered by third party partners.
  • Collaborate with third parties to identify CI plans and deliver service performance improvements
  • Build, socialize and activate third party sourcing strategies in concert with indirect procurement and IGBS functional strategic plans.
  • In exceptional poor performance circumstances work with indirect procurement to agree and apply appropriate performance improvement interventions and/or penalties.

Identify and Drive Continuous Improvement Activities

  • Build and maintain a portfolio of continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Work closely with the IGBS CI organization in adopting common IGBS CI practices.
  • Prioritize and agree CI initiatives with functional leadership.
  • Look well beyond “issue identification and resolution” and deliver “problem identification and elimination” in CI work.
  • Engage with industry, innovation partners, and other GBS organizations in understanding how other organizations are driving CI and tackling similar issues and problems.

Build and Develop Organizational Capabilities Supporting IGBS and Functional Strategies

  • Work closely with functional leadership to identify and roadmap current and future IGBS organizational and operational requirements, including future service transition waves from the function into IGBS.
  • Ensure functional requirements and roadmaps are reflected in overall IGBS strategy.
  • Develop operational and organizational plans and forecasts in-line with future functional needs.
  • Promote cross-functional talent development both within IGBS and the function to develop talent and broaden career opportunities for IGBS and functional staff.
  • Assist and influence functional leadership in identification of additional functional operations and activities which could become part of IGBS.
  • Actively monitor and engage with GBS industry leaders and trends to identify new opportunities.

Act as a Strategic Account Manager for One or More Insulet Internal Client Accounts

  • Where appropriate, agree and define a client facing account plan for one or more clients.
  • Where appropriate, ensure IGBS strategy is reflective of client needs.
  • Collaborate with other IGBS senior leaders to share client experiences and develop best practices.
  • Gather client sentiments using Net Promotor Scoring (NPS) and agree and monitor improvement actions and targets with the client and IGBS.
  • Act as the voice of the client within IGBS and act as the voice of IGBS with the client.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, advanced degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Demonstrated operational experience, across multiple service areas, in Finance Operations in leadership positions.
  • Demonstrated track record of continuous improvement delivery across Finance Operations.
  • Experience in global business services operating environments preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Some travel will be required, approximately 25% initially, reducing to approximately 15% steady state.
