Senior Engineer - Projects

Responsible for providing senior geotechnical and civil engineering advice in relation to tailings storage facilities, open pit and special projects on the surface.

• Accountable for the integrity of the tailings facility.
• Responsible for liaising with the Principal Engineer, EOR, operations, planning, regulatory affairs, social performance and environment teams.
• Accountable for any change management requirement in relation to operation of the TSFs
• Responsible for all dam monitoring systems (including but not limited to Piezometers, Deformation markers, InSAR etc).
• Quarterly TSF compliance reporting and submission to the OGC Tailings Governance Committee.
• Familiar with regional, domestic and International Dam Safety, Consent and Regulatory aspects including but not limited to GISTM Standards, NZ Building Code.
• Responsible for the preparation and implementation of a site-specific Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan (EPRP) for the TSFs.
• Dam Construction and structural enabling works on TSF’s.
• Contract and Cost Management.
• Implementation and maintenance effective geotechnical risk controls and management for a safe operation/maintenance.
• Undertake routine geotechnical data collection activities where required such as drill core logging, face mapping, test pits, borehole, prism and seepage monitoring, etc.
• Processing and evaluation of prism, radar, and inclinometer slope monitoring data.
• Undertake routine and regular inspections of pit walls, excavations, waste rock stacks and other surface infrastructure relevant.
• Responsible for Surface and Slope drainage/water management.

Requirements

• Tertiary qualified to at least Bachelor’s degree level in either Civil, Geotechnical or Mine Engineering.
• Full and Current Driver Licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred.
• At least 10 years’ experience in mining in either civil, geotechnical or mine engineering roles with at least 6 years’ experience in tails storage facility design and compliance.
