Head of CD&I Relationship Management – Continental Europe Financial Institutions

Lead a team of CDI Relationship Managers focused on orchestrating, facilitating, coordinating sales activity and engagement with our core clients. The role covers a group of regional or segment accounts with a view to grow the Net book of business of clients portfolio across the CDI product suite. The team is Product Agnostic and Client focus

Outcome expected

  • Make S&P Data estate value proposition simple and clear to our Financial Institutions clients for their needs across Banks, Fund Admins, Investment Management & PE firms, Insurance firms
  • Educate and raise awareness of CDI services appropriately focusing on client understanding, connecting with C level and broking relationships for our CDI Data Estate.
  • Leverage internal network appropriately to support both retention and expansion of client portfolio book of business.

Key Responsibilities

The Relationship Manager plays a key role in orchestrating and facilitating our CDI engagement and operates with an entrepreneurial spirit. They make S&P simple to our client (client journey improvement). The partnership internally and externally is crucial to be successful in the role.

  • Responsibility for retention and growth of CDI BoB
  • Provide renewals pipeline visibility, identify contracts at risk and work closely with sales specialists to orchestrate a client strategy and retention/growth yearly road map.
  • Identify and develop strategic projects that drive growth through New Sales and Renewal activities
  • Work closely Develop in partnership with Sales specialist teams, short-, mid- and long-term business/commercial strategy and plan with the customer
  • Collaboration with key internal stakeholders to ensure seamless client journey
  • Commercial oversight across the CDI full set of Solutions for their franchise
  • Drive top-down engagement, broaden C-suite dialogue and senior relationships with Core client segments.
  • Develop Account insight and intelligence and build deep understanding of client business
  • Drive thought leadership across the sales and marketing organization leveraging relevant SME’s internally and externally
  • For non-GAM covered accounts, provide objective and factual client relationships health assessment including depth of stakeholders’ relationships (account mapping), current MI footprint and financial situation, key opportunities and renewal in play, latest engagement (visits)
  • Plan, coordinate CDI education and awareness - retention
  • Develop segment/region specific knowledge, understand trends and related client challenges – e.g. digitalization strategies, risk/compliance, sustainability

  • We will always be one phone call away from our client establishing a relationship of trust
  • We will exceed client expectation by proactively anticipating needs and requirements, surfacing relevant S&P offering at the right time, educating and calling upon a trusted network of expertise (Sales Specialist, Product, training)
  • We will be the connectors and brokers of relationships (internally and externally)
  • The CDI sales team will operate with a foundation of trust, collective responsibility and clarity
  • We have one voice for our client – we will be in alignment when talking to clients

What We’re Looking For:

We are looking for an individual with ability to build and manage a team of dedicated client facing, relationship building professionals that can contribute, guide and influence a sales process from origination of new business to retention and expansion of the BoB.

A person with demonstrated success in engaging clients with a curious and growth mindset showing a thorough understanding of the client operating environment and organizational design. The successful candidate must have the ability to convey a cohesive story of S&P Data Estate & analytics supporting it.

Importantly, the ability to partner across all partners within the organization, engaging customer success, Sales Specialist and GAM appropriately and timely to support a smooth, engaging and productive relationship at all levels.

Minimum and Preferred Experience/Skills:

  • Ability to assemble, build a coherent and cohesive team and lead with vision, conviction and a strong sense of ownership and personal engagement
  • Independent, self-starter capable of working without close supervision or daily guidance
  • Aptitude to establish an inspiring team culture with a sense of belonging and purpose based on a common set of values and behaviours
  • Strong business acumen with relevant industry experience and a consistent record in consultative sales
  • Team player with an ability to collaborate across functional and geographic boundaries
  • Strong ability to partner across the organisation, influence and orchestrate and broker relationships
  • Confidence in approaching new markets, navigating and owning a territory and dealing with C-Level executives
  • Strong communication, organization, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Ability to make difficult decisions and set priorities based on imperfect information
  • Demonstrated advanced analytical skills and ability to deliver action-based reporting
