About the Role

As a Senior Systems Engineer at Brightly, you'll play a pivotal part in designing, deploying, managing, and supporting secure, cutting-edge technology solutions for our diverse customer base. While most clients are cloud-based, some maintain hybrid setups with on-premise infrastructure.

You’ll work across a broad range of clients that will put your skillset to the test. This role requires someone who has experience with:

  • maintaining on-prem and hybrid environments
  • designing and implementing Cloud solutions
  • providing Level 3 support for IT networks, system infrastructure, and associated applications and services
  • leading critical technical implementations, such as Cloud migrations
  • managing Azure and AWS infrastructure and optimising Microsoft 365 environments

In this essential role within our growing company, you'll play a key part in enhancing our cloud infrastructure and security practices. As the technical lead on multiple projects, you'll adeptly manage and run parallel streams of work, ensuring smooth and efficient delivery. Collaboration is at the heart of what we do, and you'll work closely with our technical team, to design innovative solutions and implement process improvements.

There will be a combination of remote and on-site work with our customers, predominantly within Auckland.

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for a Senior Systems Engineer ready to make a difference, delivering high-quality solutions and supporting our customers and community. You will have:

  • at least 5 years of experience managing Windows Server, virtualisation (VMware and HyperV), local and cloud migrations, firewall and networking, Microsoft 365, and Azure
  • experience planning, implementing, and supporting on-premises and cloud-based systems
  • implemented and supported virtual environments, particularly VMware, including VM deployment, optimisation and most importantly architecture
  • AWS experience is a bonus
  • Experience with ISO standards is nice to have, but not essential

While technical expertise is essential, we're also looking for someone with outstanding people skills. You will need to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to stakeholders at all levels, making sure everyone is on the same page. Being self-aware, adaptable, and proactive will help you build strong relationships and deliver exceptional results for our clients.

Qualifications and Skills

  • University degree in Computer Science and five years of equivalent work experience.
  • One or more of the following certifications: CompTIA Security+, GIAC Information Security Fundamentals, Microsoft and Azure Certifications
  • Expertise in Azure Cloud services including Azure AD/Entra Microsoft 365, firewall platforms, network analysis, Windows 10/11, MacOS X, Google Workplace
  • Bonus skills: Implementation and management of SIEM solutions such as Microsoft Sentinel, previous experience with Azure Lighthouse, AWS Cloud Infrastructure, Project Management, Business Intelligence, Salesforce, ISO certification or an understanding of ISO standards
