Position Summary

Under moderate supervision, responsible for the administration of access to all technological platforms of the university, ensuring proper control of access to IT and data assets, and analyzing various policies and procedures to ensure security compliance for all systems.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Fulfill the requests for access for verified users to multiple technologies across multiple platforms and departmental units. Request fulfillment includes new user provisioning, file share access, access to various systems and networks and off boarding of users from those same resources. Off boarding process requires contact and alignment with employee’s supervisor and/or Central HR. Identify violations of security compliance for HIPAA and FERPA, coordinating with Information Security and Central HR to address the issues.

  • With a thorough understanding of the integrated collaboration of the academic and medical university, create and modify email resources such as calendars, shared mailboxes, rooms and distribution lists for multiple departments in the email environment. This includes the request for public facing email accounts, add and removal of members to a distribution list and identifying email routing issues. Utilizing PowerShell, SQL and other various applications to complete requests and extract information for auditing purposes. Upwards of 60,000 active mailboxes are supported.

  • Performs the day-to-day activities to ensure communication of time-critical information and to maintain consistent customer service levels. Provide escalation support from engineering and technical support specialist for access and routing related issues in Active Directory and university email.

  • Assess with the other team members the various PowerShell scripts and SQL commands as well as develop scripts to improve productivity through the continual improvement process.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technology field.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Experience/Certification in Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Experience/Certification in Power Shell.
  • Experience with MS SQL.
  • Team Skills: Supports teammates at all times and in any way necessary to maintain a productive, energetic, efficient and dynamic WashU IT team. Communicates effectively and frequently both verbally and in writing with other members of the team. Collaborates with other teammates to provide assistance and expertise, as well as to receive expert input and assistance from others delivering the best solution and experience for the customer.
  • Customer Service: Must possess an aptitude for patience, professionalism, tactfulness and empathy. Must be enthusiastic and committed to helping others and exhibit the ability to quickly assess the specific needs of the customer to determine an appropriate course of action. Must be able to quickly defuse stressful or anxious situations.
  • Ability to multitask across multiple systems and platform while ensuring accurate data entry.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to understand the relationship between administrative systems across multiple platforms.
  • Ability to adjust priorities, SLE and user urgency.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with teammates to address workload.
  • Demonstrate high attention to detail.
  • Strong focus on customer service.
  • Ability to interact with people in various departments and communicate effectively to those individuals.
  • Work with a diverse group of individuals in a collaborative team environment.

Required Qualifications

Associates Degree with three or more years of experience in IT operations/security.

Salary Range

$22.92 - $35.49 / HourlyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
