Safety Director

The Forest division is responsible for wood sourcing for Stora Enso’s Nordic and Baltic operations and B2B customers. It manages the Group’s forest assets in Sweden and a 41% share of Tornator, whose forests are mainly located in Finland. The division’s operations are based on sustainable forest management from planning and logistics to harvesting and forest regeneration.

We are looking for a senior safety leader to drive and develop safety culture and our safety agenda in the division. The position will work closely with division leadership and Safety Manager of each business unit to ensure the implementation of the division safety agenda.

In this position you will report to SVP People & Culture, Forest Division. You work in close collaboration with our four business units and the Forest division leadership team. Location Stockholm, Helsinki, Falun, Imatra or one of our other key locations.

As Safety Director, your main responsibilities include:

• Facilitating and steering the development the Forest division safety culture and safety roadmap
• Closely benchmarking world class safety practices
• Coordinating safety integration within division contractor management model
• Ensuring the quality and delivery of the division safety reporting
• Monitoring divisional safety performance using leading and lagging KPI’s
• Being an active member of the Stora Enso group safety network
• Providing active coaching to the organization strengthening our safety culture

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a person with a holistic view and good analytical skills, as well as an ability to involve and inspire people.

To excel in the role, you probably also have:

• University degree in a relevant field or equivalent other studies
• 5-10 years’ experience and track record of leading safety in multinational and -cultural environment, preferably in industrial context
• Understanding how world class safety culture looks like in daily behavior
• Knowledge of Management System Standards (such as ISO 45001 or OHSAS 18001)
• Experience of contractor management from safety perspective is a benefit
• Excellent communication skills and fluent English. Swedish and Finnish are a benefit

Role involves to modest extent traveling in our operating countries, yet even more importantly the person enjoys connecting and cooperating also with our field operations.
