Finance Manager - Generation & Trading

We’re looking for a trusted advisor who can provide sound financial leadership and ensure effective financial management to our Generation and Trading team. As a leader, you’ll guide your team and offer support across the Wholesale Finance team, delivering high-quality financial advice and planning. Your ability to interpret and report on financial performance will be key to our success.

Your role will be integral in building and maintaining relationships within the Generation & Trading team, fostering a deep understanding of our business and its gross margin. You’ll take the lead in the budgeting and planning process, setting ambitious yet attainable goals. Your responsibilities will include maintaining General Ledger integrity, ensuring accurate monthly management accounts, and providing insightful analysis for Board reporting. You’ll coordinate forecasts, the annual budget, and our Ten-Year Business Plan, enhancing our financial analysis frameworks to boost insight and efficiency.

In this dynamic role, you’ll identify and implement strategies to enhance business value, such as cost-saving initiatives and process automation in collaboration with the Finance Systems team. Your contribution will extend beyond your primary role, offering support to subsidiary companies and across the Wholesale Finance team. Requirements

The type of experience you’ll bring to the role

  • Chartered Accountant professional qualification (or equivalent) (5 years plus) and has significant accounting/business experience
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting systems (preferably ERP systems), procedures, reporting, and other business systems
  • Depth of experience in financial planning, analysis and reporting at a senior level (preferably in the energy or related utilities sector, trading/investment banking and/or in a publicly listed company). Including experience with financial accounting concepts.
  • Ability to clearly convey information to colleagues and other business units and communicate complex ideas to suit different audiences
  • Skilled in the effective resolution of complex issues and problems
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
  • Integrity and high personal and professional standards
