Technical Design Lead - Data Centre Projects
AECOM have a multidisciplinary team working with Data Centre clients across both Hyperscale and Colocation and also Enterprise on projects across Europe. These projects are led by our specialist data centre team based in the UK in conjunction with our local teams across Europe who ensure localisation and permitting delivery, but also other global design teams providing resources and capability to the projects.
We are seeking someone with a strong technical background in the DC sector who can lead multi-disciplinary architectural and engineering projects at a Technical Design Lead level but also establish, build, and maintain strong relationships with key clients both through successful project delivery but also through building a trusted Client Account Manager (CAM) approach.
This will require being across multiple projects at once and being responsible for identifying potential issues and troubleshooting before they materialize, to ensure timely delivery of outputs to meet the client's demands. They must ensure the right level and capability of resources are deployed on a project, be involved in bidding and pricing of new opportunities, and ensure that those opportunities deliver to the as-sold fees and margins. The role will need to understand the internal commercial and contractual governance for the key client/s projects, ensuring compliance with internal processes, managing risk to AECOM, and ensuring profitable delivery.
The location of the role is flexible within the UK/ Ireland however it will be important that it is local to one of our hubs of expertise – London, Dublin, Belfast, and Manchester and the role will require travel within the UK&I and Europe.
The candidate must be strong in multidisciplinary team collaboration and technical design content. They will ideally have a DC experience, with skills in design management, digital technologies, and design workflow. They will be expected to manage and take accountability for design activities and the production of design information across all DC disciplines and maintain the level of quality that is expected throughout these projects. They will have to manage this delivery to very demanding timelines and programs with immovable deadlines.
You’ll be working closely with the multi-disciplinary design teams, clients, and contractors in the UK and Europe. Excellent communication skills are essential.
