Job Description

We're bringing onboard a skilled Systems Lead who will drive the development, integration, and validation of advanced autonomous systems. Reporting directly to the Head of Autonomy, you will lead interdisciplinary teams to ensure the seamless integration of hardware and software components, maintain rigorous engineering standards, and contribute to the creation of a comprehensive safety case.

This role involves owning and managing projects related to CAN-related devices, vehicle interfaces, HMI systems, network-related devices (e.g., router/modem), sensor selection processes, and embedded systems. You will also actively participate in Failure Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA) efforts to support the safety case.

You will work closely with the autonomy software, hardware, and commercial operations teams to accomplish these goals. This position offers a technical, hands-on professional the chance to lead the development of market-defining enterprise products that combine autonomous vehicle technology with a robotics-as-a-service (RaaS) business model.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and oversee the development of CAN-related devices, vehicle interfaces, HMI systems, network-related devices (e.g., router/modem), sensor selection processes, and embedded systems.
  • Actively participate in FTA, FMEA, and HARA efforts to support the safety case.
  • Lead system integration testing and end-to-end validation to ensure all components function seamlessly together.
  • Implement data collection strategies and analytics to assess system performance and reliability.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for systems engineering-related communications.
  • Continuously assess and improve systems engineering processes, incorporating feedback and lessons learned from projects.
  • Communicate technical issues and solutions clearly to stakeholders at all levels, both within and outside the engineering community.
  • Up to 25% travel may be required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Several years of experience in systems engineering, preferably within the autonomous systems or robotics domain.
  • Proven experience leading interdisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience with the development and deployment of complex systems, including hardware and software integration.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering tools and methodologies (e.g., SysML, MBSE).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to navigate complex technical challenges.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical issues and solutions clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver on time.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Ideal Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience with autonomous vehicles, robotics, or aerospace systems.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations relevant to autonomous systems (e.g., ISO 26262).
  • Experience in safety-critical systems engineering and risk management.
  • Strong background in model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
  • Proficiency in systems engineering tools such as DOORS, MagicDraw, or similar.
  • Experience with software development and hardware-software integration.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
