About the role

** This role is based in Italy and we require the individual to be based in Bergamo, Crema Milan or bordering regions, due to frequent trips to our manufacturers in the surrounding areas.**

We are looking for a Senior Quality Manager based in Italy to supervise and lead the industrialization activities at our contract manufacturers.

As Industrialization expert, you will play a strategic role for new launches, ensuring compliance with Charlotte Tilbury quality standards within timelines, and for maintaining supervision of on- going product portfolio.

The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert with extensive experience on scale up, industrialization and manufacturing processes of colour cosmetics and skin care products, preferably for luxury brands and in a fast-paced environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to sit at the heart of product development, to work with external manufacturers and have a direct impact on the continued success of Charlotte Tilbury.

As a Senior Quality Manager you will be

  • Leading Product and Quality Risk Assessment with internal stakeholders ( NPD, Packaging Development, Regulatory and Supply teams) and external suppliers for new projects. This will include identification, evaluation, and definition of mitigation measures to reach identified quality, performance, feasibility and timelines.
  • Identifying along with packaging team the needed activities for testing, scale up and line trials of new products in agreement with the relevant suppliers. Consolidation of feedback and needed activities into the project team.
  • Using technical expertise in colour cosmetics formulas to address/resolve project issues and evaluate suppliers ‘product and document submissions
  • Communicating and interacting with suppliers on a regular basis for on-going projects and quality non-conformances for existing products.
  • Attending to line trials, scale up, mass production of the designated products and approval of results to ensure texture, colour and product specifications are always met and process parameters are successfully validated and properly documented. Escalate to the appropriate level in case of quality issues and ensure thorough and fast trouble shooting.
  • Evaluating and approving on site whenever possible of product range boards and defects classification.
  • Consolidating finished product specification for assigned projects
  • New suppliers’ phase-in and onboarding- support with selection of suitable new suppliers for the colour cosmetics product range, sharing feedback with procurement and NPD team in alignment with the line manager.
  • Performing suppliers’ assessment including definition of optimization measures and improvement areas and/or phase-out recommendations.
  • Leading or coordination of Technical Review meetings with external suppliers
  • Performing or supporting technical investigations in case of quality issues and customer complaints and follow up with the corrective and preventative actions with the supplier, ensuring continuous improvement and avoiding issues reoccurrence.

Who you will work with

  • Reports to the Global Quality Director (based in London)
  • Partners with NPD, Packaging, Supply, Procurement and Sustainability teams
  • Interact daily with contract manufacturers and packaging component suppliers

About you

  • BSc or M.S. degree in Engineering, Chemistry or related scientific field
  • Full proficiency in Italian and English. Spanish and/or French will be a plus.
  • Extensive experience in R&D, process development and industrial manufacturing of colour cosmetics and skin care products. Strong know-how of cosmetic manufacturing technologies, especially powders (pressed, baked and back injections) , lipsticks, hot poured and foundations.
  • Experience in packaging manufacturing field will be a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of ISO22716 and ISO9001. Experience as co-auditor or lead auditor according to these standards is desirable.
  • Experience with Six Sigma tools such FMEA or other risk management approaches.
  • Strong overall understanding of Quality Assurance, Quality Control and testing procedures, including stability and compatibility testing for cosmetic products. Understanding of ISO 14001 desirable.
  • Willing to work remotely with frequent on-site visit to manufacturing plants (mainly Italy based) and quarterly visits to our head quarter in London
