Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM – 5 PM (40 hours / week)

Works twelve (12) Saturdays per year – one Saturday each month

Works one (1) evening per week

Job Summary

Develops, manages and implements operations, procedures, collections, programs and public service goals for patrons using the Makerspace and Digital Lab at Bentonville Public Library. Monitors the condition of the makerspace and digital lab. Serves as the expert in library technologies, equipment and software housed in both spaces, with the ability to implement, troubleshoot and repair equipment.

Technologies and equipment include: 3D printers, engravers, laser and vinyl cutters, desktop computer, laptop, iMac, iPads, gaming consoles, audiovisual equipment, creative design hardware, various hand tools, sewing machines and other specialty items. Ability to recommend and use specialty software such as: Adobe, Apple, Microsoft, audio, creative design software, video and podcasting software, as well as proprietary platforms that accompany specific devices.

Develops content and collaborates with librarians, as well as industry experts in the community, to offer formal classes, drop-in learning sessions or open house events on various subjects across age groups and abilities. Examples include: STEAM programming, making, tinkering, coding, computer programming, 3D printing, crafting, sewing, knitting and other hands-on art projects.

Works under the supervision of the library director and plays an integral role in the library’s professional leadership team. Strong focus on making and digital experiences, customer service, technology and team work. Requires the application of elementary principles of library and information sciences. Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Instructional Media, Education, Library/Information Science or other related field is required; three (3) years of work in related position; or five (5) years of experience related to the job description; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
