Department Overview:

The Asset Management (AM) Division is at the forefront of managing NYC’s largest and most diverse portfolio of real estate and transportation assets. The AM Division is responsible for the linking policy goals with full life-cycle management of its broad portfolio, including retail spaces, commercial buildings, industrial sites, ports, public markets, theaters, and major campuses through capital planning, design and construction, asset and facilities management, and enterprise operations. The division is at the forefront of shaping New York City’s infrastructure and regional economic landscape.

Position Overview:

The Vice President of AM Executive Operations reports directly to the Executive Vice President of AM and plays a central part in enhancing operational efficiency, executive reporting, and strategic execution within the division and the corporation’s external stakeholders. The role will provide critical divisional management oversight, ensuring efficient resource allocation, seamless execution of strategic goals, and supporting the development of the division’s capabilities.

This senior leadership position requires a dynamic individual capable of driving organizational change with strategic bearing rooted in professional experience in real estate, economic policy implementation, or management consulting, who can represent the division in high-level negotiations and high-stake environments.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operational Leadership: Oversee the daily operations of the division, ensuring all activities align with strategic goals and compliance standards. Streamline operations to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Strategic Implementation: Assist in developing and executing division-wide strategies. Act as a strategic advisor to the EVP, providing insights and recommendations on operational adjustments and policy initiatives.
  • Resource Allocation and Budget Management: Direct the management of resources, including the Associate Pool, to optimize support across the division’s 62M square foot portfolio. Lead the supporting functions tied to the annual capital planning and budget process.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the division in critical meetings with city officials, other division heads, developers, and community leaders. Ensure that divisional interests are advanced and protected in all negotiations.
  • Team Development and Training: Spearhead robust training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge within the division. Direct the onboarding process and continuously update training materials to meet the evolving needs of the division.
  • Policy and Compliance Oversight: Guide the division’s engagement in policy-making processes, ensuring that all operations adhere to local and state regulations. Oversee the implementation of new policies and adjustments to existing ones as necessary.
  • Performance Monitoring: Regularly review performance metrics to gauge the division’s success and areas for improvement. Implement corrective measures when necessary and report outcomes to the EVP.
  • Other Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Serve as a proxy for the EVP in critical meetings and negotiations with President's office staff, other division heads, other agencies, elected officials, tenants, developers and community.
    • Work with Senior Staff to manage the hiring process across the division and own, update and manage the Division's on-boarding program in partnership with senior staff
    • Develop and/or participate in special projects with President’s Office, City Hall, or other agencies, including grant applications, MWB/e and outcomes reporting.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years in senior management roles within real estate, operations, policy, finance, or public administration. Demonstrated success in operational leadership and strategic planning.
  • Proven track record of leading diverse teams and managing complex operations in a dynamic environment while managing cross-functional deliverables against scope and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated communication skills with a focus on being able to develop quality briefing products and support divisional strategic communication capabilities. In addition, capable of preparing, planning, and effectively negotiating and presenting to high-level stakeholders
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with project management software.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, adept at multitasking and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment, producing high-quality, well synthesized analysis and divisional communication and knowledge management assets.
  • Valid driver's license; must establish NYC residency within 180 days of hire.
