About the Role:

The Communications Officer oversees the development and distribution of the stories that make Melba stand out from the crowd. They will be a custodian of the Melba brand and take ownership of certain channels and communication products.in order to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders. This role creates, coordinates and delivers develops and delivers on communications plans to grow engagement and awareness of all things Melba.

Responsibilities:

  • Write and produce a range of communications for different audiences, including newsletters, blogs, video scripts, and letters.
  • Ensure intranet and website content is up to date, producing new content as needed.
  • Write and produce engaging content for regular e-newsletters and social media, planning and preparing content for social media marketing campaigns and posts aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Develop written and visual content targeted to stakeholders and specific audiences identified in internal communications plans.
  • Deliver Melba stories, including scripting and interviewing for short videos for social and internal communications, and producing videos and materials for the annual report.
  • Produce engaging digital content, such as images, banners, gifs, videos, podcasts, and animations, that promote Melba’s overall brand story.
  • Liaise with external providers and digital creators (animators and videographers) to coordinate the workflow of digital content requested by the organisation.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 4+ years’ experience in a communications role, with the ability to write according to Plain English and Easy English principles.
  • Outstanding ability to write and design communications for a variety of audiences, with experience in writing for a range of mediums and platforms, including social media posts and newsletters.
  • Strong storytelling skills, from interview through to visuals and content delivery, with expertise in editing and proofreading.
  • Excellent computer and digital communications literacy, including familiarity with Canva and other in-house graphic design tools.
  • High-level organisational and time management skills, with a proven ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, and work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative management skills, capable of working effectively across teams.
  • Experience in the disability and/or community services sector is an advantage.
  • A degree in communications/journalism or a similar qualification

Requirements: A current NDIS Worker Screening and Working with Children Check (we can support you through the process of obtaining one or both checks if you don’t already have them).
